Do you think the Jewish people deserve their place in Israel?

They just need to reach a resolution. If religious leaders back any resolutions, the people would follow.

I think that the problem is that people tend to think of it as all Jews versus all Palestinians. Really, it's more like a few power hungry people in the Israeli government versus a few borderline insane Palestinian militants. If they went at it hand to hand instead of jeopardizing and killing civilians it would solve the problem quicker, and be more entertaining.

The jews have had it bad, yes. but giving them part of the middle east beacuse of what happened in world war 2. please. its maddness. I think we were just securing our own intrests there. maybe having a country actually on our side in the middle east. it just doesnt add up as to why we had to go there of all places to give them their repereations. why not part of germany.

Israel was formed in the exact same way as almost every country. Saying they don't deserve a place in the middle east is like saying Americans don't deserve a place in North America, or that the English don't deserve a place in Great Britain.

No....THIS.....IS......THOUSANDS OF YEARS OF PERSECUTION CULMINATING IN WW2!!!!!

Well, that's obviously why we support Israel, but why is having an ally a bad thing?

Israel is the "Promised Land" in Jewish tradition, it was where Judaism started, it was where the Exodus ended. "Part of Germany" doesn't cut it. It doesn't mean anything to the Jewish people, it's just land.

the British gave Israel to them because they wanted to protect their interests, and to assuage the gulit of WW2.

Because that would justify the Germans being pissed off at them...Dumbass

I think the Israelis and palestinians have to learn to share their beloved homeland, not fight over it. I mean considering the place has holy cities for Christianity, Islam, And Judaism they shouldn't be fighting over holy land. Rather making negotiations about how they can peacefully co-exist.

The "dumbass-ness" is self evident.

Iran was on our side...............we had the Shah from 1953 to 1979.

The British thought that the Arab states would win the inevitable war. Of course, the Arabs were defeated.

I think that the Jews do not deserve a place in Israel. It was stolen from the Palestinians unfairly in response to WWII, the palestinians were not involved in the war so why should they suffer. That said, I think that there is no way to just give the land back. If anything, I would propose compensation given to the palestine government and the US should stop giving support to the israelies to please the small zionist speacial interest groups.

Though you would at least have thought the British government could have founded Isreal in a place away from all the crazy extremist Arab states.
Yeah, but Israel was the promised land, the jews felt they had a divine right to occupy Israel.

I think everyone living within the borders of present day Palestine and Isral should become one country. The Gaza Strip can then hold it's own elections to decide whether or not it wants to become an independent state. Sure this has flaws, but I never saw the perfect fix to a political problem.
There is a war going on in you're mind. People and ideas all competing for you're thoughts. And if you're thinking, you're winning.

True. They have won the right to live in Israel just as much any other country that fought for their land. The only problem that arises is that the USA was founded nearly 250 years ago while Britain had a more bloody history stretching back to the dinosaur age. that maybe slightly exaggerated, if only a little
Those were different times, and very bloody, dark times. The world has changed since then and we've founded international laws that we insist we conform to.
simple-but-sandy
The Jews deserve all that land after all the shit they have been put through.
I've had some pretty rough times. Same as atheists, buddhists and many other religions and people. Do they then have a right to claim somebody else's land as their own?

Yeah, but Israel was the promised land, the jews felt they had a divine right to occupy Israel.
Definitely. This is the problem that I have. If the UN and US insisted that the Zionists have their own land why didn't they found them a place in a UN obligated country? And now that we mention it being religiously motivated its interesting to see that the zionist occupation has appreciated the condemnation of the majority of the International Jewish community. Religious wars are stupid as much as they prove the stupidity of religion. I don't understand why this has the full support of the UN. Should we know condone China's occupation of Taiwan and Tibet? or Indonesia's past occupation of East Timor? That would only be consistent with the UN

Well, yeah, they've had hard times, but i think a couple thousand years of slavery, getting kicked out of pretty much every country in Europe for no good reason, and the holocaust trumps pretty much anything in recent history.

Yeah, but the Gaza Strip is tiny, if I was a Palestinian I wouldn't be happy to huddle into such a small area.

So the land has to mean something for it to be a homeland?
Sucks for the people in the Sudan because that place really sucks. Weak defense.

I wouldn't understand why anyone would consider a mine feild of hatred to be a holy place; even if t was stated as such in an ancient scripture of great religous importance.
On a moving train there are no centrists, only radicals and reactionaries.
