certainly did, I was hoping I wouldn't make someone write something like that but turns out I needed too =P... I definetly have a better understanding of what you mean and with a little experimentation I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. I'm just so used to calling _root I didn't understand how to do what you described.

Thanks a lot I really appreciate it =D

I'm cool now... Right guys?... Guys?

Another questions for BoMToons:

Are there limitations on how we can setup the scoring? You mentioned that the amount of Wogs gained from our game will be scaled based on the top possible score, but what about games where the aim is to get the highest score possible, ie. no upper limit? Are these scoring structures prohibited, or will you just pick a reasonable exchange rate between game scores and Wogs?

Also, thanks heaps for the music and sprites, they are going to help a lot in replacing my current placeholders :)

Damn.

I just completely finished the engine for my game, and so I took another glance at the rules, and saw that my game had to be at 25 FPS. I've already done my game at 40 fps x_x.

Do the games really have to be 25 fps? Thats a ridiculous number for a game, most flash developers I know do their games at 30+ FPS. Is it going to mess up the API if my game is at a higher FPS?

Nope, WW runs at 25 fps, so your games have to also...sorry man, I know what a pain it is to revamp an engine based on a fps change, it messes with animations and gameplay, but it can be done.

If it's an open-ended game, we'll just have someone good play it a few times and determine a reasonably attainable score cap from that.

Will longer games have bigger awards on WW? Like, for the minigames that can be quickly beaten, would a user get as much credit for a full adventure game? I'm making an adventure game that probably will take a good part of an hour to complete- will that be a problem?

Yeah, more in depth games will probably yield a higher number of wogs.

Ha ha, I have a feeling you're right...but for someone to make something that could win the contest it's likely they could have coded that themselves...it was fun to make though.

Wow, I wish I had heard about this earlier! I'll definitely try making a game for this. My idea is pretty ambitious though :/

And thanks for including the sprite sheet!

Just one more quick question. Once the player reaches the win/loss screen, and their score has been sent back to WiggiWorld with that function you gave, where should the player be lead to? On the win/loss screen, should there be a link to the menu so the player can send another score? Should there be a "submit score" button, or a retry button? Or an exit button?

I'd normally have a submit score button, and a menu button, but I see no point for a submit score button on the WiggiWorld game, and idk if it is allowed to let the player send two scores.

What should I do?

I'd say put a main menu button because, from there, they can exit or restart.

But are they ALLOWED to play the game twice and submit another score? Does that mess up the WiggiWorld gold metal/wog system?

Is it required that we use the wiggi world songs that you provided in the contest page, or can we use the audio portal?

You can use any non-copyrighted music that's appropriate for kids. We just provided those songs for people that were having trouble finding music. They're not required.

Is it a problem if a game requires two players? I have a game idea that I might try but it would be a lot more difficult if I had to implement a computer controlled second character in the case that only one person is playing.

We love 2 player games, but they need to have single player mode too if you want it to stand a chance in the competition.

A quick NG search for 'Wiggiworld' comes up with only 2 games, is that all that has been submitted to the contest so far? Is there a more complete list somewhere that I can look at?

What are the judges looking for exactly? Is there anything in particular that would make them consider one game over another, besides how "good" it is?

I don't think I can explain it much better than I already have in this thread:

We want fun, original, well done, complete games for KIDS. That's what we're looking for.

What about AS include files? is it alright to send you both the FLA and the include files in one ZIP? Or should I take all of the code form the includes and blast it into my frames holding the other game code? This doesn't make a difference for the compiled SWF, of course, but without the include files, the FLA would be almost worthless...

# Games that feature one (or more) of the following values in creative ways will have a better chance of winning the competition:

* Obedience
* Service
* Health
* Tolerance
* Cooperation
* Courage
* Forgiveness
* Gratitude
* Generosity
* Honesty
* Humility
* Kindness
* Leadership
* Loyalty
* Modesty
* Patience
* Dedication
* Respect
* Work
* Wisdom

Was just scrolling through the games that have been previewed and wanted to point out that I really did not see much of these themes in the games. The best show of these was saving the Wiggies in the platform game. I think that the games should be more educational. Like teaching them how to spell\read\mathematical skills\etc.

Yeah, maybe. That list of skills is just for extra brownie points with the judges. There's no requirement as to the specific content of the game beyond it being appropriate for kids.

What platform game?

Think you can put a list of the submissions on the contest page, BoMToons?

Guess it doesn't really matter.

As for educational games- I'm not sure if those are too good. Kids don't like learning.

I'll probably try to get in one of those values though. But is it important to do this?
