Story-Here
It's a big article, go look at it.
Anyway at this rate they'll give us all our own bubbles to reduce contact between each other.
Besides I bet fights still happen there anyway.
First blood! First topic of 2010!
KC Green has just won my heart.
Kogey made a sig, but it was too much for me to handle.

All physical contact leads to premarital sex and can get you pregnant. It's about time someone stood up for the safety of our children!
Tis better to sit in silence and be presumed a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

Zero-tolerance absolute policies never work.

Yeah, in my village, making out is prohibited at the high-school.
But at my own school, you'd have to stare at many couples each lunchbreak. Tough choice.
Anyway, the school shoudn;t implement moral on the students, moral is a choice not an obligation.

No, this school shouldn't prohibit all physical contact. This is a society where contact is necessary, and sometimes encouraged.
It's a business faux pas not to shake hands at certain times. We require the ability to show affection in good physical ways, with hugs and holding hands. Friendships are strengthened by celebrating certain events or just greeting your friend with a high five or a pound.
As the principal said, there are shades of gray. But the school should observe these shades of gray and determine whether or not the physical contact is school-appropriate. This seems to be a sign of laziness on the part of the administration. They don't want to have to deal with determining whether or not each case of physical contact is okay, so they prohibit all of it to make their jobs "easier".

Our justice system doesn't work on an empirical basis. It's all case by case, just like school policies should be.
I mean, come on...

Id go there just so i could touch someone.I think that'd be great fun.Plus,i dunt think you should have to go to a school which forces upon you a policy you dont be live in,a policy you didn't elect in.This is making the parents nuts, and its not hard to see why.Kids get into fights.Thats FINE.That HAPPENS.No touching makes a kid's life not have memories.I remember my first fight.I didnt get even a detention for that fight!

If 2 kids had a fight in 1957, they would make up and become best friends and not get in trouble. In 2007, they would both be charged with assault and expelled.

WE'RE RAISING A NATION OF WUSSES!!
Gah! Between this and Massachusetts taking competition out of sports, to eradicating valedictorians in Florida, we're raising a generation full of people that are going to be shocked when they get into the world and find that it doesn't cater to every one of their whims.
So often times it happens, that we live our lives in chains, and we never even know we had the key...

One of the best points I've seen in a while. People fight. We always have, we always will ***glares angrily at Isreal and Palestine*** In short, Shit happens, Its shouldn't be that big of an issue.

*Yawn*
No tolerance policies never work, and quite frankly bore the hell out of me...students think they are dumb, most parents do too, and even some of the damn teachers think so...
When will the next knee jerk be...

It would be one thing to outlaw negative contact like hitting, but for shaking hands and high fiving? People need contact with other people and if they don't have it, they go crazy.
By telling kids that they can't hug each other or give each other a hand shake is basically telling them that being nice and respectful to other people is a bad thing.
And besides, it's not like the rule is going to work. It would be one thing if the adults around them thought the idea was good and gave verbal support, but they don't. If the parents don't like it, than they are going to impress upon their kids that this is a rule that they shouldn't care about breaking. What are the school systems going to do? put the parents in time out?
What these authorities need to realize is that if one kid does something wrong, that they should be reprimanded, not the entire school. The truth is that children don't respect people who don't respect them and this rule is not even close to respectful.

They are restricted from shaking hands with someone, so how the hell are they supposed to get a job?
Manager: Pleased to meet you Hal. *extends hand*
Hal: Um...I'm not allowed to shake hands.
Manager: Well, I see you have no references or previous experience, so we'll give you a call.
Heck of a job school district!

"the best laid plans of mice and men go aft a glee" is mildly more correct.

I think the goal is to make sure that the rules and judgments are completely fair.
Unfortunately, that comes at the price of being completely stupid.

I just learned at my town elementry school they have enforced a no touching rule on the playground. They are not allowed to play tag or run. They can just walk and go on a slide. This is complete and utter bull... But you cannot blame the schools. The real people to blame are the parents and frivolous lawsuits. People looking to get money from suing schools are criminals. Sometimes a kid will fall on the playground. Most injuries do heal. I guarentee that suing the school system for millions of dollars will not help anyone. It will just make it that much worse. Going to school there must be a living hell.

These rules will only make teens rebel further, causing more and more physicial contact, so what is the point in doing so?
