It's backwards compatible. You can change back to ActionScript 2.0 in Flash CS3.

The filters are great if used properly... If you make a man and you want him to look detailed you can try to texture him up in black with the alpha down a little to make him look dirty... now, add a small blur and it looks awesome... that's just one example.

Flash 8 can do what Flash MX does plus more so I don't see why Flash CS3 can do what Flash MX and Flash 8 can do plus more. How do I know that Flash 8 can do what MX does plus more? I have both versions.

Luis... why do you love Flash MX so much... is that the only Flash version you have?

With programs usually the newer version is better - can't say the same for movies all the time but if Flash CS3 is so crap, why do all the professionals use it?

And if Flash 8 was so crap when it was the newest Flash version, why did all the professionals use that? And nobody say that I'm angry that I bought the wrong version of Flash at the time, I have both versions and can use whichever version I want and whenever I want I always decide to use Flash 8.

Also, Flash 8 doesn't just have filters, you can adjust smoothing and stuff to drawing tools... plus a higher stroke level.

mx 04 had a better layout than mx in my opinion I still use it on occasion then I just load it into a new version when I'm done and add any bells and whistles that you can't in the previous versions

Luis doesn't like new software it runs a bit slower on my computer and its a bit more ram intensive, and the layout still follows the same built upon concepts of past versions of flash... It really is a matter opinion no one could say one is worse than the other, the layout is just slightly different slightly less laggy filters as3 and support of .psd files maintaining their layers...

I use Flash 8, and I don't plan on buying Flash CS3. I find Adobe Flash 9, rather ...disappointing. I don't have the extra money to upgrade to a program in which I won't use the new additions. Yeah, it's cool to have non-lagging filters, but I'd rather just do effects using photoshop and go to the extreme using Flash 8. Flash 8 and MX, aren't that different besides extra filters but that's all. I feel bad for the kids rocking it old school with Flash 5 :// eh, some people use it to their full potentional though and go all out...And kick ass x]

Everything is open to opinion.. but flash mx opens like before i even have time to blink... and it actually forces you to become a better animator because you learn to improvise and actually in regards to filters you actually have a more optimized file if you DID improvise rather than use flash's built in filters.. which is sad because heres a utility which supposably was made to make your life better but actually contributes to your file being 2x heavier than it would have been had you taken the 'ghetto' approach. PLEASE dont try and argue with me i've been using flash since you were a sperm in your dads nut.
