Preface: This was originally going to be in Zerok's Archive of Bad Topics, but I think it's a persistent enough problem that more users should be aware that it is, in fact, an offense that may result in a ban. May, I said May result in a ban, so don't start flinging your angry face posts at me.
Parody threads. We keep deleting them and you keep posting them. A lot of you people must have forgotten to skim through the forum rules (I'm sure you meant to do it one of these days). If you had, you might have caught this line under things that might get you banned "Creating parody threads, or posting with gimmick accounts."
Still, you might be asking asking "Hey Jerry that proves that they're not allowed, but why, why aren't they allowed?" First off I'd respond to that by asking why the fuck you know my real name. Honestly, that's some creepy stalker shit right there. Then I'd take the time to spell it out in a slightly condescending manner that you could easily understand. Take my hand, ignore my sweaty palms and badly chewed finger nails, and let me give you the one-two-threes of why we don't allow par-o-dies. Get a pad and pen to take some notes because we're going on an adventure through learning (yay!).
1) They're not funny, plain and simple. It's an easy way to get attention without creating something clever or original. Generally, you're not even really parodying the original thread. Parody implies that you're showing it in a light that would make other users see how ridiculous it is. Posting the exact same thing from someone else's perspective is a shit-poor excuse for a parody.
2) They don't inspire any conversation. You pretty much just get "lol parody" from people who just want to prove that they get the joke. Then there are the people who think it's a real thread and try to post something relevant. It is okay to laugh at them, the fact that you understand what's going on does make you a better person. Just don't e-laugh at them and post something like "lolz ur nub" because that's super-lame and I'll hate you. Forever. Plus the thread's just going to get deleted anyway, remember?
3) They belong in the original thread that inspired them. We don't need two (and in some cases many more) threads that are all on the same subject. The only reason to make it a thread is because you want the attention and adulations that go with it. Don't be that guy. No one likes that guy. Just remember next time you want to make a parody thread, make a parody post instead. It's what Wil Wheaton would do, you do want to be like Wil Wheaton, don't you?
To be fair it is possible to make a good parody thread that mocks a popular topic that has existed for a while in a genuinely funny manner and doesn't deserve to be deleted. The fact of that matter though, is that you'll never make one. That's right I'm talking to you. Yes you. You'll never make a worthy parody thread. Don't look back and forth like that, there's no one else around you for me to talk to. Stop making parody threads, you're embarrassing yourself.
