sry for the triple post but i had to add this. In Montana they allow medical marijuana even though it is outlawed federally. so what happens is you sign up to par-take and have your name on a list so the gov't can bust you. it happend to some old lady with cancer.

in some ways it does and in some ways it doesnt i mean they seperated from the union to keep slavery but it isnt because the flag itself has no representation of slavery on it.

But, in Europe and even America when Hitler was growing up, the swastika was a neutral little ornamentation that was used in architecture. A lot. Little Hitler liked it a lot and constantly scribbled stuff with it in his schoolbooks and whatever (he orgininally wanted to be an artist, remember?). Eventually, he chose that, his favorite symbol, to represent the Nazi Party.
Check out this
weird gallery of stuff from when the swastika wasn't a taboo. The coca-cola swastika really kind of freaks me out.

i rate that. how did patriotism degenerate into thinking a cloth was sacred, photo-ops and draping it over everything.
Lincoln is considered one of the greatest presidents of all time. I can respect the Southern disapproval but the reality is everybody voted him in. A significant factor in the outcry was the fact that he stood for black equality, so it symbolizes southern racism, bigotry, arrogance towards the rest of america and intention of separating into another country. Personally I would've been glad if the south turned into its own nation. I'd be curious about where they'd have headed (probably begging to be included back after a couple of days; a week tops)

No it doesnt have a picture of a hanging black man but that doesnt mean the confederacy never did it. The fact is that the confederacy secieded to keep their salvery, and their flag represents that. What do you think of first when you see the flag?

I'd like to let you all know that i'm from the south and i don't find it necessary to wave the Confederate flag.
Yes, we know there was a civil war, we're not going to forget it; you have every right to wave that flag and I will fight for your right to do it because it's an expression of free speech, but I'd much rather you didn't. You know that it reminds our African-American friends of slavery and YES we know the civil war wasn't just about slavery but it WAS a big part of it and when many African-Americans look at the flag that's what you see. So if you want to be an asshole you can go ahead and wave it, it's within your rights but keep in mind it's not going to make you many friends in the African-American community.

Actually, Lincoln got less than 50% of the popular vote- he only won because the democratic vote was divided between two people.
