I have adobe photoshop CS2 and macromedia MX 2004. I am pretty good pencil artist(see below for sketch i made in like 20 mins in class... this is my only scan and i dont wanna get flamed for not including a pic) but i cant seem to find the right tool to sketch with in either program... Please give me some ideas, and if you could include a pic of what it looks like it would be much appreciated.

tool to sketch..
a tablet for your pc is pretty much a tool you will need...

if you have that, then any pen, brush tool that lays down color will able you to sketch

Drawing without thinking is just doodling, the brain and pen is connected.

Flash: Scan, trace, colour.

Photoshop: New layer, set to multiply, select area with polygon tool, colour with brush. Repeat.

Try some mechanical pencils, I've experimentd, and they have thinner lines. (0.7 lead)

for shading, use some thicker pencils, like ticonderoga.
cover up with some 0.9 lead if you want an all pencil drawing.
i used all of these, and it worked in my science class.

You're going to be hard pressed to get the quality (or human touch) of a hand drawn image out of any digital medium. Try looking at your problem in a different way to find a different solution. You've got Photoshop and a scanner, and you want a true digital version of something that looks hand made... why not start with a basic hand drawn image like what you've got on this thread and finalize it (manipulating the colors, adding cool backgrounds, shadowing, etc.) in Photoshop?
