Well we all know 'something' will end the beautiful planet 'Earth'.
Just what; tho?
I think either global warming If not; then war.
Global warming is a big problem, even now, it's still a problem.
And I think it's still to late to sort out global warming, And will be a worse problem in more years to come.
If it ends up to war, It will be either a WW3 or to big counties threating to blow each other up with nukes.
What do you think will end the earth?

We will all die because of biodisel fuel. We will try and switch over to it and will run out of food because it will have all been divereted to biodisel and we will starve.

The sun's expansion into a red giant.

Are you talking about the Planet getting killed or the people on top of it?
Many things,
Mass volcano erruptions
suns radiation emissions
sudden change in the weather globally
Sudden change in oxygen content

It's not big enough to go Nova. It'll probably just end up a white Dwarf (after the whole Red Gian phase).
And yeah, that won't happen for another 5 billion years or so... give or take a few millenia.

The world will end becuase of resources and revelution. Soon the world will be out of oil, wood, and other items, so war will be needed to get them hence ending the world. Revelution becuase these poor countries are going to revolt sometime, this means genocide and that means death.

The Earth itself? Well in about five billion years the sun will go supernova and devour the inner planets. All sentient life on Earth? Most likely nuclear war. If not that, then a meteor.

Supernova? The phrase you're looking for is Red Giant, because the Sun is too small to become a supernova, as mentioned in a previous post. But yes, the sun will devour the inner planets, before becoming a white dwarf.

You can't simply end the earth through war or nuclear weapons. You could exterminate the human population, but as long as the sun continues to provide consistant and habitable temperatures it will not end.
You could start a nuclear winter and kill all humans and land mammals, but you're never going to kill every last insect and deep sea creature. The only thing that will truely end the earth is the sun expanding into a red giant and engulfing everything in flames.

TomAEto/TomAHto. Either way the Earth is cooked, and if humanoid life is still around elsewhere it will have evolved away from us looooong ago.

since we are talking about "ending" the earth and not life on earth, the only thing that will do it is the sun's expansion.

I saw on the History Channel's The Universe that the Universe is expanding at an insane speed and it will cause a rip made of dark matter to spread like the clap and destroy everything in it's path and leave the universe a lifeless energyless mass of dark matter.

Why does it matter what will end the earth? It's not like anyone is going to be around to collect on the betting pool money if they're right anyway.

I agree with what this guy said. And to whoever said a 4-5 mile meteor, that will burn up before hitting the earth. We've survived MUCH bigger meteors in the past.

When I said 4-5 mile meteor I meant its going to be a 4-5 mile meteor after in gets through the atmosphere. While It will not make the planet explode (obviously) it will eradicate all life on earth.

I was watching that last night, actually, and it said it would happen in 15 billion or something years. So I think we don't need to worry about that, especially since it's innevitable.

Global warming cant actually destroy the earth, it could kill 90% of the population, but humans have survived ice-ages in the past.
You should rename this to: what will end human life on earth, because not even humans have the means to acheive your "Apolcalypse" scenario where the earth actually explodes.
Nuclear war, possibly, But remember that a politiion may be unscrupulous, but so far there have been instances where there were MORE nuclear weapons then there are today, and where the world was completely divided, but both leaders on both sides were rational thinking, for the most part, trying to do what benififted their own country [lacking regaurds for other countries was what created the problems]
And nuking other countries doesn't fit that category, if one person fires a nuke then everyone fires a nuke and you have the end of the world, a nuclear attack requires consent from a variety of people at the same time, so if a leader is High on Cocain they still wont be able to fire a nuclear weapon.
On a moving train there are no centrists, only radicals and reactionaries.
