one thing sticks out the most at the summit this time having to do with Iran and North Korea. they rejected UN inspectors to come in to monitor their nuclear facilities and both have the ever so cliche weapons of mass destruction. it was said if there is no compliance from either country there will be action taken within international law.

two things come out of it. i'll start with the weapons programs of the remaining two of the "Axis of Evil". perhaps the real reason they don't want any inspectors is because of the fact that, despite all the big words, they really have nothing. the last thing they need is for the world to be laughing at them. North Korea in particular. or perhaps it is because they have weapons and don't want the world to know.

the second thing is the countries in the G8 saying that there will be action taken within international law. simply put it means war. eveentually. but before that can happen there has to be embargos, then insistence for cooperation, then some tough talk, then some war drum beating, and then the real war.

and on a related note, i've noticed that each and every country in Bush's "Axis of Evil" has either been confronted or dealt with. granted it is only three countries, but there is more to it. France is 100% behind the American agenda. they don't like how Iraq was dealt with, but as far as support is concerned the French are behind the Americans. the whole issue with Iraq was that the French felt that the US was missing a step as mentioned above (hard talk first before war). so if the US goes through these steps we may see another warby Bush's second term (granted if Bush does get re-elected).

Well don't worry, Bush left early. You know, since it doesn't really apply to him.

Havent we already seen that these political nations councils are pretty much powerless? I mean, I'm all for the international community binding together to stop useless wars, it's just they don't seem to be good at anything except keeping the number of countries involved in said war low. The wars still happen, it's just now everyone bitches about it. Maybe its a step in the right direction, and one day a new world order of peace will arrive, but as for now it just seems like a big waste of time and money. But then again, so was the space program.

In summary: Summits don't really achieve much in wars, only in trade.

How come Iraq isn't an issue worth mentioning at the G-8 summit?

Funt Fact: Protestors have the freedom to protest 30 miles away from the actual G-8 site. That'll get their voices heard.

Iraq was mentioned at the G-8 summit. ir just wasn't as charged as it was before. the main issue was regarding the absence of WMD. of course the arguement is that the search is still young with more places still untouched. the only reason it was downplayed was because North Korea had more charge at the time. plus it is Bush's agenda to topple the leaders in his "Axis of Evil."

Actually Jim's right. In Isreal, the people will have Semtex strapped to them to use incase of problems.
