I think this competition was unfairly judged....
Any competition where any of the judges know any of the contestants is unfair.
You can plainly see from the entrants posts, the judges posts and and results, people who are well known on the grounds as musicians are getting favour and there songs getting chosen (even if there just good sound effects slapped over very poor musical foundation) while the newcomes to the grounds are getting underated or downright ignored.
Thats not NG spirit, its whats ruining the site.
It's great to see you have followed the contest so closley that you can express an opinion about it. Not only thisone, but the previous MAC's too, it seems.
First off all, let me clear out a thing;
- The MAC is NOT an official newgrounds contest. It's a fan-made contest that strives to include as much of NG as possible, wich is why a few contests have been very much NG related. True that most contests have had awards sponsored by Newgrounds, it's pretty much the only audio contest that have been happening based on this site and come back.
Anyway, can you honestly look at the list of songs that made it through and say that most of them didn't deserve getting through? Have you even bothered to read through the first posts in this thread, where Tom even had his saying of what The Behemoth wants for the game?
As for the judges, they are supposed to stay anonymous from each other and the public, until the results are out. That's how all MAC's have been, and that's most likley how they will keep being as long as we keep the judging system similiar to what we have today. But hey, I bet you knew that already?
The judges have a tough call to make, but they're not alone. There are many judges who judge the same entries, so that a couple individual opinons/song is given.
There are quite a few "newcomer" among the finalists on the last list a few pages back. And oh my, you say that alot of "known" and already established artists went through? I wonder why that is... I guess... maybe they're... more experienced, and actually read through the first posts to understand what the purpose of their songs were supposed to be? Poor newcomers, it can't be easy to not get through when one slaved a whole hour over puzzleing a few basic loops together.
Now, I was too a beginner once, but dude... I just once again have to say that It's great to see that you have followed the contest so closley that you can express an opinion about it.
critisism is warmly welcome, and if there can be a discussion that leads to better contests, that's just great. but it is also very appreciated if you know what you're talking about before bringing things up that you obviously have no clue of what you're talking about.
