Are you there God? Movie inspires Twin Cities phone calls
Lucy Y. Her / Star Tribune
05/30/2003 - Jenny Becvar of St. Paul is 28 and single and has a steady job. And she is being bombarded with calls from guys -- looking for God.
"I thought it was really odd," she remembers thinking when the calls started rolling in over the weekend, she said.
Then Wednesday, while listening to a radio station at work, she found out that she wasn't the only one.
Since the movie "Bruce Almighty" hit the theaters nationwide Friday, Becvar and a number of other people across the country have been getting a lot of calls , because they have the same seven-digit number that God has in the movie.

A brief plea from a native Minnesotan:
We're really not that stupid.... it's the cold it gets into your brain and makes you do these things. Yeah, that's the ticket, it's the cold, they'll believe that. Oh shit I'm still typing this!
*goes off and huddles in a corner*

This will be probably disregarded, due to my not-entirely-sober state and the silliness of the whole post, but I was going to just ask, if anyone ever considered the same thing I often have. What can God be really? Please, do not take me for some sci-fi weirdo who watched too much x-files, I just have read loadsa factual info on the paranormal stuff and here is how some area of thought formed (going to be brief). Is it possible that what God is to people (a holy spirit) is not really what it was. We could assume that someone did create our planet in 7 days or more, but that something was not a spiritual force, but rather a physical. Could it be possible that we were created by some advanced civilization? Jesus on the other hand, was a worker of miracles, son of this God. Who after his death, somehow ressurected and rose to the sky on a cloud... Do you think it is possible that this was some sort of an advanced physical force, advanced beings being sent on this planet.
Hmm, can't really write anymore, drunk mind doesn't function, but I do have more to say really. Anyway, maybe in some 100,000 years time we could (unless we are all destroyed by some nuclear war) achieve such a high level of evolution, so as to be able to travel somewhere out far in the universe, possibly find a mediocre life which we could then work on and then send our little "Jesus" to them as a preacher of our "godly" word to the new civilization???
Hmm, if anyone doesn't ignore this and doesn't see me as some sci-fi obsessed queer, say what you think.

I believe in no jesus or god,but as to the question that you proposed about what is god well he is energy if anything. In school you are taught that energy never dies it just changes. We are a mass of energy that never really dies we just change. So god must be the same if he exist.

Yes, if you do not believe in God as something Holy, you could think of him as a mass of energy. But what am I proposing (it is not necessarily my belief, just an assumption of possibilities) if that this God, which created us, watches over us and sometimes decides to interfere, is some "experiment" of a more advanced civilization. In the sense that, maybe Jesus was not the son of this mass of undying energy, but rather a messenger of this civilization, instructing us what to believe, according to their desires. It is kind of a radical point of view and many may not take it seriously, dismissing the whole "aliens" subject as being retarded. But, knowing our rather primitive evolution (after all we don't use like 8/10 of our brain's capabilities), it is possible to say that there are older and more advanced form of life, who were able in one way or another, create us (I do not believe in evolution of man as we know him today, from some sort of microscopic organism, even over the period of millions of years), and watch over us, only to interfere, just like in the case of Jesus at a point in time when we are ready to accept a certain amount of information to guide us.

I did just once, while really drunk one night.
But I did it because it was in the phone book. Ad the name was listed as "Jenny"
What happened? It re-directed me to a phone-sex line.
No joke. All the girls available were named "Jenny". No mention of the song, though.

In high school my friend Kelly signed my yearbook "for a good time call 867-5309."
I wonder how many of those people are stupid, how many just want to try the number, how many want to mess with the person? The article said the woman only received one nasty voicemail.
