I dont think you get how an explosion works. Use this tutorial I made for how to do explosions in easytoon:

Easytoon Explosions

Step One:

decide the object it will hit and from what the explosion will form from. Let's say it is a missile hitting the ground. Now, we arent doing debris yet, since I have no clue how to do that decently. (or at least havent tried to do debris yet :/)

Step Two:

now, once the missile hits the ground, it will instantly explode. Unless we are showing it in slow-motion, the explosion will be in the middle of twice as large and just as large as the missile by the first frame. Now, with smoke from explosions, they tend to be very rough on the outline. Just like a cloud, it is poofy, but unlike clouds, those round poofs are numbered in thousands not just 5 or six arc-like poofs. The explosion should be somewhat equal in distance on all sides of the outline from where the missile hit, but the parts that are touching the ground should have small spikes poking out. there shiould also be small spikes sticking out of one or two other parts of the explosion, too.

Step Three:

On the second frame through the sixth, the same step is used:
now the explosion should rise out quite a bit, not too much though, at zoom level 3 it should be about 3/4ths of a cm out. The spikes should push out a bit more and should start to puff up at the back edges. As the frames go on, the explosion should gradually slow to a halt, but never completely stop, just slow down; the spikes should continue to puff out from the inside out until they are a puff also. (by puff, I do not mean it dissipates yet)

Step Four:

Now the explosion begins to dissipate from the inside-out. It should start very sharply but kind of slow. Have one or two more parts of the explosion being to open up also. Once two of the openings touch each other it should dissipate very quickly and the dissipation outline should become poofy like the outside and then once the dissipation point reaches the edge, parts of the smoke should break off and then dissipate themselved. Once the parts of the smoke break off, begin using lower values until they are completely white and fade.

sorry for double post, but I forgot to say that your sig, dreamer, is on the third page.

Some Effects I decided to test out. First one is a energy beam, second is dust, third is explosion.

Comments, any ways to improve it? (I know there is)

with the first, I cant help because I havent tried to make one yet, with the second, you should have made it more round and complex not sharp. With the final, look again at one of my explosions and you will notice that the round parts have a lot of round ridges on them, they arent smooth. Not much else to say because I just woke up and cant really pay much attention :P.

Ask spikeyguy777 he is the leader of the collab, I suck so I really needed his help. If anyone else joins it'll just get better. As you've said ez toon only works for shorts so instead of one long ez toon we have about a dozen small ones.
