First of all work on grammar before trying to master a guitar. But in my view i would say a gibson explorer is an ok sound but it is an odd shape to play.

I play the guitar, and i have to be honest..other then looks and a brand name, they have NO difference. Plus, my friend works at a welding shop, and we are working on making a light metal electric guitar. :)

If you like SGs get an Epiphone SG. It's your first guitar and you dont know if you're going to enjoy playing, so you shouldn't waste an insane amount of money.

I had a Squire strat when I started out. Not the best, but it got the job done.

Gibson SG? God, those things are fucking pricey. I started on a Fender Starcaster. It's some piece of crap I got for Christmas from Best Buy. It's still good in its onw little way.

wow, STFU

Play a Squire and then play a high priced Gibson or Ibanez. Difference?.... yes. And of course if you suck at guitar, they all sound like shit.

To the topic starter, go with an epiphone for start, they are cheap and will give you a good idea whether you want to continue or not.

My favorite guitar is the one i play, iceman ic400

I started on the Jackson DXMG Dinky. Nice guitar, and decent tone if you like EMG's (passive though).

Ye Auld Fender Telecaster. Or in my case a Tokai Breezy Sound ( basicallysame thing, the people that made my guitar now make Japanese Fenders.)

You're ignorant. The types of wood, pickups, quality of the electronics, the shape (believe it or not) and everything about the guitar matters.

Gibson probably. I started out with a slammer hammer, flying v. And I have to tell you, it's sound is horrible. No vibe, no beautiful tone. It just sounds dull. Not because it's electric, but because it just sounded horrible unless it was plugged into an amp, and even then, it sucked compared to my other guitar.

Word to the wise: try out guitars before you buy them. Same goes for pedals.

I'm currently trying to get a semi-hollowed out, epiphone electric guitar. It's pretty affordable. Gonna need to get a job, tho.

Not to mention they cost... how much?
The best starter guitar would have to be a Telecaster, hands down. Their cheap, easy to find, nice sound, and solid construct that won't just fall to pieces.

For electrics, I'll always settle for a Gibson Les Paul (fucking love the sustain) as my top option, but I'll use a Fender Strat as well (fucking love the bendability).

Classic guitars, sure. But they are classic for a reason. Not to mention I love both of their sounds, although the Strat seems to be more flexible, sound-wise.

For starters, just get a shitty squire strat, because the majority of people who pick up guitar end up quitting before a year. Don't go out and get a gibson les paul as your starter, thats a pretty penny for a interior decoration of your room. Guitars don't make you a better player, technique and practice do.

A Telecaster is not just the best starter guitar, it is the best guitar full stop. Especially when I get another one to put a humbucker in the neck. Cause remember, vintage guitars in mint condition are not good to modify.
