Do rock operas count as musicals or plays? If so then my favorite is either Tommy by The Who or Jesus Christ Superstar.

Les Miserables. For a while there, I was into the deeper stuff...but I would like to eventually catch "Wicked" or "Avenue Q" next.

Tommy was turned into a musical. And quite a kick-ass one too, I might add. I saw it when it was in Toronto many a year ago.
My all time favourite will always be the Phantom of the Opera. I absolutely love the music. Ive seen it three times now I think. Coming in a close second is The Producers.

Unnecessary Farce
I doubt any one here as heard of it, it was written by some guy at the Boars head theater in Lansing, Michigan. It was actually quite funny and loaded with sexual innuendos, clever jokes, and funny physical situations.

Avenue Q, which is a great musical. It even involves puppet sex.
