Before you start typing your " if you dont love America get out" messages here me out. I'm an American, and I think the U.S. is the best country in the world. But I do think we stick our noses into other countries bussiness to much. Ya know why? BECAUSE WE HAVE TO! You see Uncle Sam weilds a double edge sword. If we dont get involved in other peoples problems we get yelled at by the rest of the world. For example the massacures that have happened in the Sudan. Refugges said "why didnt the western world and the U.S help us"? America has tons of its own problems and we're so busy trying to help the rest of the world we cant concentrate enough time on our own problems and those problems keep piling up. So what I'm trying to say is that if the U.S. gets involved with another nations problem we get yelled at by the rest of world. And if we dont get involved we get yelled at by the rest of the world because being such a powerful nation we are it seems like we should lend a helping hand but if we do we yelled at but if we do nothing we get yelled at? So people of newgrounds please post an idea of what we should do so we can try harder next time, because frankley I've have no idea what we should do

Yes, America does stick it's nose in. However the yelling is hypothetical. Besides you say America does stick its nose in, people will expect a reaction.

Look throughout history the most dominant country at the time is usually the most hated one.
You can't please everybody and ultimately said country will always look after themselves above all other countries hence the hatred from smaller less influential countries who would rather be getting their own way. I.e. being able to look after their own self interest.

More like:
Sane person from any country in 2003:
Why are you invading Iraq? You should be helping Darfur.

American foreign policy is hypocritical. That's what I object to.
If you wanna go all out and change the world, then fine. If you want to ignore the rest of the world to the best of your abilities, then that too is fine, but trying to do both is what gets people annoyed at you.

Pick one or the other.
You say if you dont help you get yelled at.
So....? Why should you care, its not as if you need to do anything.
So do nothing concentrate on your own problems and ignore everything else.
But ofcourse the reason the US dose help other conteries is so it can make friends.
And in return your friends help you. Well sometimes.
A dont know were all knida stuck with messing with other peoples business because everyones a nosy shit and cant help theirself.

It's not a question of interfere or don't interfere. The question is how, what, why etc.
It's all based on the situation...

That is because the non-American asshole is smart enough to make the difference between the two. The situation in Darfur was an acute humanitarian crisis that needed quick involvement, whereas Iraq, while being ruled by a ruthless dictator, had no similar urgency, and the hasty involvement only stirred up violence and chaos.

Not to say that I'm a fan of the war, but, come on, when Powell spoke in front of the UN, everyone was rip-roarin' to go.

Everyone on this flippin earth is a hypocrite. People bitch about us giving help when no one asks for it and they bitch when they want help and we don't give it to them cause they all told us(the US) not to help. People just like to have something to bitch about, that's all. No one can make up their flippin mind so we all fight all the time.

Oh right, because the genocide of 450k kurds in Kurdistan(what they call the northern) region is somehow anymore urgent than the genocide of the same number in Darfur. I guess you can tell all those guys in Iraq to quit faking it, they weren't gased.

True you can't appease everyone, but that doesn't mean that I can't see it as hypocritical when the worlds only super power is happy to get involved in Iraq on very dubious evidence, but then refuses to do anything about situations that can and do need urgent attention, such as Darfur for example.
At 6/2/07 03:17 PM, JakeHero wrote: Oh right, because the genocide of 450k kurds in Kurdistan(what they call the northern) region is somehow anymore urgent than the genocide of the same number in Darfur. I guess you can tell all those guys in Iraq to quit faking it, they weren't gased.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't that occur in 1980's?
The situation in Iraq as of the 21st century is in no way comparable to Darfur. So yes, if this were the 1980's that would be a valid argument, however times change, the first gulf war happened, WMD's and chemical weapons in Saddam's control were destroyed or got rid of, so Darfur was the much more urgent case at the time of the Iraq Invasion.
That's why people complain. 'Cause the US decided a course of action that wasn't dealing with the urgent problem. Iraq needed to be sorted out, but it should have been pretty low on the 'to do list' if you're talking about humanitarian aid.

That genocide was urgent in the 80's, why didn't you invade Iraq then? Oh that's right, Reagan and Hussein were allies then.
