Planes flying overhead 2007-05-28 22:44:58 Reply

All day today there have been B-17's B-24's and B-29's flying overhead, I was wondering if anyone else had seen them.

The B-17 and B-29 are four engined planes while the B-24 is a two engined plane, all have Radial Engines so they make a very distinct sound.

Because there could be something important happening, or it could just be some random info good to know. Cause the only planes I see are just commerical airlines.

occasionally about once a week a B-29 flies overhead but I've never seen anything like this. they could be relocating to an air museum somewhere

Then why even bother posting if you didn't even choose to read it?

I live by very close to a naval base. I hear F16s all day every day, and see all sorts of big fancy aircraft on a regular basis. Anywho, i doubt it's anything to pay attention to.

I live more than 15 miles from a small airstrip, besides they don't house WWII era bombers there

These are World War Two era bombers, you don't often see these old birds flying anymore, especially in great numbers. There aren't many left that can still fly, thats why I was commenting and asked if anyone else had seen them today, because I was wondering where they were going.

Probably an airshow it was memorial day.
Kinda odd their that old though. I'd figure F-16s would be out.

They can do that on the ground by just throttling the engines up with the wheels blocked

F-16's are too fast I imagine, a bomber is big and slow and impressive, also it has historical significance. besides it flies at a few thousand feet, therefore people can make out details on the plane.
