All religions (that I know of) have some sort of afterlife. For Christians and Jews, you go to either heaven in hell. For Buhddas, you are reincarnated as an animal, depending on how religious and how good of a person you were.
This being said, where do athiests go after death? They can't go to heaven, hell, or they can't reincarnate and other things because they do not believe that they exist. Do they just rot in the ground? Do they go to an aethiest heaven? There isn't a way to prove where they go, because people that are religious aren't even sure that there is a heaven or a hell, they just have to believe through faith.
I think that it's like purgatory, but in a doctor's office, where people read old magazines and drum their fingers on walls and stuff waiting to go somewhere even though they never will go anywhere but be trapped in that smelly, white, blank room.

One of us must not understand Atheism. As an atheist, I believe nothing happens after death. I won't go anywhere, and won't have conscious thoughts.
If you're saying that hypothetically, there IS an afterlife, and atheists have to go somewhere, i'd have to say that a true atheist wouldn't believe any of the things he/she is seeing is happening and would probably go insane

We go in a coffin and fed hungry maggots. We become fertilizer.

That's what I've considered too, and that was my teacher's answer to my question, besides, "Athiests don't believe in the afterlife so it doesn't exist"

If you wouldn't believe in the Lord then hell wouldn't exist.

Wow. Way to answer his simple question with your Christianity bullshit crap shit fuck. He wasn't interested in the Christian belief as to where atheists go when they die. He wants the real answer, not your made up answer.

Fuck, if what you believed determined your afterlife I'd convert to Islam.
But I'd say Atheists don't believe they go anywhere, they just die, and are dead.

I actually asked a preist this question before.
According to him, they go to Heaven, due to their ignorance. That is, if there is a Heaven.

I personally believe that if you can't imagine something, it's impossible. You can't imagine seeing, hearing, and feeling nothing, can you? That being said, something more miraculous than that has to happen after death.

I'm sorry what? EVERYONE just rots in a hole when they die. Worshipping invisible people that live in the sky doesn't save you, sorry.

You are not very smart, "Pimp". It doesn't matter WHAT you believe. You wouldn't go somewhere based on what you believe. If there is a heaven and hell, people will go there regardless of beliefs. However, it is much, MUCH MUCH more likely that, as stated, we will all just rot in the ground. You make it sound bad though. We run our course in life, and then it's over. The only reason religion exists is because people don't want to die, and religion creates a way for us to live forever. You're tricking yourself because you don't want to believe you will actually be gone. It's just like before you were born, it's not that hard to comprehend. I'm not scared of it now but when I get there you can bet your ass I'll be scared, but I don't want to live past 80.

Speaking as a Buddhist myself, I just want to point out that "reincarnation" is mostly a Hindu concept. Although the majority of us DO believe in reincarnation, it isn't in animals. The concept for reincarnation for us doesn't depend on our behavior. It depends upon whether we failed to achieve enlightenment or not. Any soul that does not come to his/her "total realization" of their own reality, then they are reincarnated as a different human to start over. This continues forever until enlightenment is achieved, after which your soul becomes one with existence itself. Not a big deal, not like I'm offended or anything :P, I just thought I'd point out an error, 'cuz I love you so much. No really. You and me. Buttsex. Now.
I find it slighty ironic that the only way to believe in religion is through "faith", which happens to be one of the STRONGEST Buddhist ideals, yet, as I'm apparently told, the religions separate each other as far as possible, but still share the common interest of "showing faith" and "love." Atheism, in my opinion, is not a very clear or self-descriptive religion. They either denounce or fail to explain the afterlife (if such a thing exists). Look, I'm not going to say one religion is right and the other wrong, but I will share this with you: look at the trees blowing in the wind. Look past the disgusting fleshy, bloody, hairy biological bodies of a human being and look into its eyes and see how beautiful these things are. ((If everything has a purpose, then why make the eyes so fucking breathtaking?)).. look at how large and beautiful the universe is. And look at how we created the idea of "love" when it is CLEARLY not important or conductive to "reproduction."
You would have to be a mad man to assume that some kind of force, whether you think it's God or Peter Griffin, idc, ISN'T out there.
I think that it's like purgatory, but in a doctor's office, where people read old magazines and drum their fingers on walls and stuff waiting to go somewhere even though they never will go anywhere but be trapped in that smelly, white, blank room.
lol ah, but even then, the idea of "consciousness after death" contradicts Atheism ;].. I don't know, I guess whatever works for people. No one says they have to explain themselves or the inconsistencies in their ideals :[..

NObody has ANY idea what actually happens after death, because no one that is or was alive, is around in a tangible form to tell us living people what it is like.
But just because you don't believe in something, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
However, no one FORCES you to believe in God or Gods, or anything else in that vein.
So if you want to go on living without religion, God, the bible, that is a life choice and we all can do people a favor and respect that. I believe in FREE AGENCY. You can do whatever you want to, so far as you know the consequences of your actions and are prepared to face them.
But it's funny how so many "Atheists" i have come across associate themselves in some respect with Wicca or the Occult. Or still believe in Satan or wear a cross around their necks.
Hello!? POSER anyone?
But just to answer the question, Atheists go where everyone else does, the the judgement seat.....to be judged by our creator and savior, Jesus Christ.
Oh and as for not shoving my beliefs on you, im sorry if i offend anyone here, thats the way i see things and what i believe in. What i have FAITH in, what i know will happen to me after i am taken home to God's presence.

The part where you said "they just rot in the ground" is the best answer on where athiests go.
Everything I see is just a image of my thoughts "Always looking for a better day..."

The whole thing about being an athiest is that you don't believe in God and by extention an afterlife. So they believe you just die. End of story.
