Illegalize Marijuana!

Marijuana (a plant that when smoked causes hallucinations and feelings of euphoria) should (and is) be illegal. It is an action that is completely unproductive. It is a gateway to serious crimes (mostly use of other illegal drugs), and creates a vicious circle as one cannot work at a job if one is using marijuana (would you want to eat at a resturaunt that employed marijuana addicts) and in order to supply ones marijuana habit one must continually buy more marijuana and various equipment. According to studies, marijuana can cause serious mental and social disorders. Clearly, no good can come of marijuana, therefore it should not be tolerated.

I propose that we invoke a 6 month prison sentence for anyone who is caught using marijuana. Furthermore, a three strikes program should be implemented with life in prison for people who won't stop.

Most importantly, we must stop these marijuana dealers, those sick profiteers who provide addicts with 'pot' (a slang term for marijuana) and various other aids including "bongs" (a device used to smoke marijuana) and "pipes" (similar to tobacco pipes, but used to smoke marijuana)

I understand that many of you out there might have used marijuana once of twice. This doesn't mean you can't be against marijuana (one of my best friends even used marijuana once, I guess he gave in to peer pressure, I don't hold it against him because he quit for good). Talk to your children early, before peer pressure is a big effect. Encourage them to find their own "anti drug" a natural high. Example "anti drugs" are homework, or praying at church. These safe, natural highs are much better than marijuana, and if your children are taught that they don't have to do drugs to be cool they will never find the need to.

This is showing it's exact similarities to the Illegalize Masterbation thread. Doc is showing how one argument can be made for many different things, and therefore he shows a weakness in all arguments.

Well there are laws already and the reason so much money is wasted on the war on drugs is because it is a lost hope.Prohibition does not work.The government profits from drug trafficking and they themselves distribute it into our enviroment.

Damnit, Ted, these are great "arguing fucked point of view" threads. Why must you steal the one joy I have in life? Yeah, it's thematic, but at the same time different issues are relevant in each case. Therefore while the opening arguments are quite similar, the end conclusions will still be relevant and applicable.
