I was eating at the table when my mom starts to say that the bees are dying rapidly and it's accelerating. We think it's mites who eat them. Bees can be very important and they are losing their lives at a fast pace. This started about 10 years ago, appearently, but now it suddenly got sharply worse. The governments don't want to do anything about it, and yet it is all over the Earth.
I'm not kidding. My family and I actually discussed this at the dinner table.

It's cell phones, that's at least what some scientists are saying.
So often times it happens, that we live our lives in chains, and we never even know we had the key...

Some scientists say that bees are scary and we don't need 'em.
But yeah, colony collapse. Fucked up shit, which is actually more important than it might seem. We need domesticated bees so we can pollinate shit.

I live in the country & know some people who keep bees.
Some bee keepers here have lost 70% of their hives this past winter.
In the spring at night around here you will see flat decked trucks loaded with bee hives, going to set them up at an orchard or farm at night so the bees will set out from the hive in the morning to pollinate the crops.
So I have been hearing about this more than a year .
Lots of theories, mites being one, global warming not enough snow, Local farmers are worried , especially the big orchards in the Annapolis Valley.
Those who have only the religious opinions of others in their head & worship them. Have no room for their own thoughts & no room to contemplate anyone elses ideas either-More

I wonder how many more things we're going to become paranoid about until we re-hit our heads.

Unimproved mesotrophic grassland is where bees normally thrive, and in the UK such habitats are becoming increasing scarce.
Out of the 25 species of bumblees in the UK, 3 are extinct and 8 are now extremely rare, simply because we are rapidly altering the landscape.
Also, global warming is having a detrimental effect on bumblees, as warmer winters are causing the bees to come out of hibernation and start breeding around at that time. Thats why, if you live in the UK, you have seen a bumblee in around in winter.
It's quite sad really.

IT is estimated that with out Bees the Human race would last about 5-10 years max. the only other creature that pollinates is the humming bird. without bees a hole chain of events would take place leading to our extinction.
I know a old man who as I was growing up kept bees and the school kids would take field trips to see them, about 6 years ago they started dying off. the problem is bad but not drastic yet.
they think it is a type of fungus, that is growing on the plants that is causing the problem.

Humanity will eventually become extinct, so it really doesn't fucking matter. Fuck the bees, fuck the human race, and fuck you.

Bees are more efficient, but we can still pollinate flowers ourselves. The food supply would decrease dramatically and there's be all sorts of additional bad news, but we'd still have something.

OMG LAWLZ TEH BEEZ R DYIN!!
Yes, yes they are...
If it's REALLY on the scale that it seems to be ("Hackenberg has lost roughly 1,900 of his 2,900 hives. Other operators have lost up to 90 percent of their hives." -- http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/
02/070223-bees.html), I would think is that the $14 billion bee crop is kaput...
And that's a disaster in itself.

Noooo! God forbid the precious bees die!
Let's do the right thing and spend all our money saving the bees instead of putting research into trivial things like cancer, AIDS, and world hunger...

I think the point is that world hunger would be exponentially worse without them.

There's tons of things you can eat that don't require pollination -_-
For instance: root plants like potatoes, radishes, carrots
also lettuce, asparagus, mushrooms.
And grass doesn't need pollination to grow, and most animals we eat also happen to eat grass.
The only thing that gets pollinated are fruits and some vegetables like pumpkins, cucumbers, peppers etc. And even then, there are TONS of insects just waiting to replace bees.
Bees collect pollen, which is a food source for many other insects who will now have lots of food to breed and replaced honey bees.
There's really no need to panick, unless you happen to live entirely off of honey or your parents are beekeepers..

OK LISTEN UP YOU MOTHERFUCKERS!!!!!
The bees that are dying are know as HONEYBEES and as we know these bees are dying. And the cause of this is emp waves, which come from a number of sources. The emp waves cause the bee to lose it's sense of well.... finding it's way home, as a result the bees fly around until they fall to the ground dead. And this happens to most the bees in the hive. However! the worry of bees not being able to pollinate the fruit trees, flowers, or any other plant is now gone because other bees can pollonate just as well or better (but without the honey). There leafcutter bees we have around my house, these bees seem to not be affected by emp waves at ALL.
There are two ways to fix this:
1.) Get rid of everything that makes emp waves.
2.) move on to bees that pollinate just as well, but without the honey.
Do not flame, or blam this because it's dumb to do so.
Nothing here anymore.

No-ones being paranoid, all thats happening is that normal peoples reaction is "wow, maybe we better spend a few grand fixing that shit" as opposed to "Lets do nothing and see if people die, it probably won't be me and it'll probably just be a few blacks in Africa".

I don't want to be rude, but that's crap.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pollination#Type s_of_pollination
wasps, ants, beetles, moths, butterflies, flies, birds, and bats all pollinate. In fact, a fifth of all pollination doesn't involve animals at all, but is done by water or wind.
I think we'd manage.

To tell you the truth, I really don't care. There are other pollinating insects, such as butterflies. Also, I have had multiple... unpleasant experiences involving bees. If we could engineer them to have no stingers, than I would want them to live, rather than condemn them to a fiery death.

The only thing rude about your post is the lack of intelligence used. first you used wikipedia, that is only good for a quick and lazy search, basically for kids who know jack shit about a subject.
Now ALBERT EINSTIEN Said that if all the bees died off humans would survive for four years, he was talking about the cycle of life everything counts on each other in nature to survive and bees are a huge part of it if they die it would start a chain of events that would lead to us , now unless you are so arrogant that you think you are smarter than EINSTIEN You might want to rethink your theory.
next time actually research a topic instead of using the biggest NOOB TOOL there is in Wikipedia, is will get a better reaction, read this it will give you a good understanding of the subject.
Y es you are correct there are other things that pollinate but it is what they pollinate that matters, this is what bees do for us now with out them all this dies then what feeds on it dies and so forth and so on.
While a few crops, such as corn and wheat, are pollinated by the wind, bees help pollinate more than 90 commercially grown field crops, citrus and other fruit crops, vegetables and nut crops. Without these insects, crop yields would fall dramatically and some tangerines and pecans would cease to exist. Agronomists estimate Americans owe one in three bites of food to bees."
All of the following are dependant on bees, apples, pears, tangerines, peaches, soybeans, pumpkins, squash, cucumbers, cherries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, carrots, broccoli and avocados. And do we realise bees pollinate almonds? California has the biggest almond groves in the world, supplying 80 percent of the nuts on the market; they currently have to import millions of bees to pollinate the groves.link
SO now do you understand a little better the importance of bees there little buddy?
