D-Day was also American led and most of the supplies, LCACs and such, were American...Plus, even when we weren't in the war, we escorted supplies over the Pond, and don't forget the 50 or so (?) lend-lease destroyers.

Americans are ignorant?
No, but seriously, I don't know. I'm not a big fan of France, but that's just because of their policies -- Sarkozy will be a turn for the better (for my opinion of france, that is)...but I am enamored with the UK (particularly Scotland) and Italy. Germany's nice, too.

I'm not excluding black people or native Americans, but they are a minority. The majority of white Americans are descendents of Europeans.
No. The early colonists were European expatriates, but that doesn't mean they're european right now. There's a clear distinction between european and american.
Infact, in 9/10 threads on the General Forum when people are asked their Nationality all the yanks come on and say things like: "I'm irish! lol and half viking or somethin lol that means i can fight & drink the best!!!1"
I've never seen a post like that, but "viking" isn't a race to begin with. They were either welsh, flimish, and scandinavian. Americans are no more european than a stalk of yellow beans are green...

Are you so stupid that even when a slew of facts get thrown around that prove you are dependent on the US in actuality, you have to bring up the fact that we share the same ethnicity? As if that matters?
I'm not excluding black people or native Americans, but they are a minority. The majority of white Americans are descendents of Europeans.
2/3rds are white...
But why does that matter? That is just race and ethnicity that has no bearing in the 21st century. Americans are only European in genetics, our very existence was based on the fact that we defied Europe and defeated two European Empires to have the land we live in today. America was an escape from Europe, and now today in the current status... Europe is far more based around the existence of America than vice versa. The only real reason that Europe is Democratic and Capitalist right now is because of the US, the only reason you're on your fucking computer, using the internet and electricity is because of the US. That is NOW, it doesn't matter that 200 years ago our forefathers happened to be descendants of Europeans.
Ethnicity means absolutely jackshit.
Infact, in 9/10 threads on the General Forum when people are asked their Nationality all the yanks come on and say things like: "I'm irish! lol and half viking or somethin lol that means i can fight & drink the best!!!1"
That's because our country doesn't have a set ethnicity, we are a nation of nations. That is a good thing, we are the world's most diverse country. Some Americans are descendants of Irish, English, Germany, French, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Russian etc... but they are still Americans. That is what is good about America, anyone can come here and still be an American.
The fact that the a 2/3rds majority of Americans are of European descent means nothing, because the reason they are here is because their ancestors left Europe BEHIND. They are only European now in ethnicity.
Yay, Obama won. Let's thank his supporters:
-The compliant mainstream media for their pro-Obama propaganda.

In a probably futile effort not to talk about the US's descendants or WWII, what are people's immediate reactions to Gordon Brown here and abroad?
I have heard quite a few people say that he is simply the best choice in a field of bad choices. As long as he stops smiling, I think I will be able to get behind him.

You seem to be perpetuating the myth that you Brits somehow aren't dependent on the US, despite the cold, hard facts of the matter.
Right... so let me get this right... your training times are half of the British armed forces (for example - us army training time is half of standard british army, american special forces training time is the same training time as our standard military...)... your pilots have had several cases of friendly fire during the Iraq war.. (the most recent one being the two f-16 pilots, attacking an armoured convoy, which had the full equipment, stating they were allied, the pilots gave the wrong area of contact, they didnt wait for permission...)
Really. and plus... The SAS - are they usless then? if possible they use Heckler & koch (british make), weapons, and the only american weapon used is the stinger missile.
And anyway.. the casualtys in the Iraq war for the Us - 1500 personell.
Uk casualtys - 150.
hm..... tells you a lot.

Anyway... personnally, i think that we are gonna end being led by Greasy bugger Cameron. The best party would probably be the lib dems - the middle ground.

Just because there seen as being typically in the middle ground doesn't qualify them to be the best party to govern Britain.

I'm sorry did you just say the Welsh were Vikings?
The Welsh are Celtic by ancestry, like the Irish and the majority of Scots. Where you got the idea that they're Viking is beyond me.
The Vikings, when hey took control of a large chunk of England, settle din the Danelor in the North of England. To my knowledge they never went into Wales.
Onto the Subject of Gordon Brown:
Stuck up grumpy faced Scotsman who, despite everything is the lesser of all the evils. I'm a paid up Liberal Democrat and even I don't want Ming Campbell to be PM. Cameron at the moment is riding on a wave of spin, and has nothing too his name. Until he come out with some policies he's a bit of a dark horse and an unknown at the moment. Brown, sadly is the ebst option...god it kills me to say that...

Yeah, I have to agree that the Lib Dems aren't even a viable option currently. Additionally, I will never even consider 'Dave the Chameleon'.
I suppose it is fairly easy to see that Brown is the 'lesser of the evils' but that's what happens in politics every single time. It's 'between a giant douche and a turd sandwich, thats democracy in action' to quote South Park.
Give Brown a chance though.

He's also pro-fox hunting.

There wouldn't have been a coldwar if we had decided to nuke russia into compliance.
Methinks Mother Russia would protest a bit...
And methinks we would wipe all of their major cities off of the map.
Anyway, are you actually stupid enough to believe a Nuclear War can be won?
It can when only one side has nukes. It's this simple, no one could have stopped us in any conceivable way. we were the ONLY country with nukes.
I've got a large Irish family, and obviously Scottish heritage aswell - my ancestors had been fighting wars since nearly one thousand years before your country even existed.
Aside from that it's the way wev'e been taught, it's how the histroy books were written, and it's a source of nationalistic pride for my people. So why not just let us have the bragging rights that our ancestors earned us.
World Wars?
If I bragged about every war that had been fought to put me where I am today, well, I'd be over the character limit that's for sure ;)
And hopefuly no one would insult your heritage by discounting the value of your nations impact in said wars. I wouldn't.
The two of you are bickering like children over opinions and rhetoric, generalizing and insulting each others countrymen, and honestly I don't see how either of you could be considered "right".Right...you accuse us of bickering like children over trivial matters, yet when push comes to shove you actually just join in with the argument and be all "WE GOTS THE RIGHT TO BRAG, BRUTHA!"?
I'm just trying to defend my nations impact in a war that changed the course of the world, without insulting the contributions of the other nations.
Seriously, if you're keeping out and criticising us like that - you should think about taking a neutral tone.
The truth is as nuetral as you can get.

You actually can't think of any other names to call David Cameron, you don't refer or talk about any of policies he is hoping to implement if he becomes PM, and key issues that need resolved in the UK, such as the NHS and so on. Your just going along on the fact that he is a 'posh tool' and this blinds you to anything else.

What exactly are his policies though? He just turns up in places and tell whoever he is talking to what they want to hear. I really do have doubts that he will be able to deliver on many of the things that he has 'proposed' since there is nothing official.
It is quite depressing after yesterdays 'New Open Government!' speech from Gordon Brown, since today MP's have voted in favour of not being a part of the Freedom of Information Act. Granted, I am sure there are some things that we just shouldn't know. However, this really is just a new way for them to hide their expenses, isn't it?
Blair telling people how great he is. Brown telling people how great he is. Six more weeks of John Prescott on Prime Minister's QT.

Tony Blair stepping down is unlikely to mean the withdrawal of British forces from Iraq as his most likely replacement is Gordon Brown, Chancellor of the Exchequer, who is the second-in-command of the Labour Party, Blair's party, and even more gung-ho about the war than Blair, in fact it might mean even more Brits headed to Iraq to help with nation building, though in all honesty I think we should have pulled out shortly after the capture of Saddam. Our country is not in the business of nation building, or at least it shouldn't be. That should be the duty of the United Nations, despite the fact they are almost as ineffectual as the original League of Nations.

But seriously, do you actually think it will change? We will still lick American ass till we pay them off the last of the debt we owe them from WW2, 2015-ish is when we will have done so. But for the moment, we have a nutter in power in Hollyrood, and a Scot in power in Number 10.

A lot of people have said that if it weren't for the Iraq War, Blair may have been heralded as one of the greatest Prime Minister's of all time.
Unfortunately, though, you can't ignore that rather important factor. The Iraq War did happen, believe it or not.
The war in Iraq may have been very necessary, a result of not dealing with the issue on the many occasions that not just Britain and America, but the entire international community, had to deal with Saddam Hussein. However, the fact of the matter is that we were decieved by Blair's government in order to facilitate this war.
Oh, plus their thinking of not emptying my bins every week. You can wage a long and bloody war in the middle east at the cost of countless lives on all sides, but if you don't deal with my rubbish every monday, you're out!
