Stakely McConnell, 25, is on administrative leave with pay. He's charged with possession of marijuana in a drug-free zone.

During a random drug search, police dogs found there could be drugs in the teacher's desk and he gave authorities consent to search his car. That's where police found half of a marijuana cigarette.

"We then spoke to the teacher, which he admitted using drugs that weekend -- smoking marijuana with a couple of friends," GISD Police Chief Leroy Amador told Eyewitness News.

McConnell was arrested outside of the view of students and taken to the Galveston jail. He's been charged with what would have been misdemeanor possession, but because the school is a drug-free zone, the charge has been elevated to a felony.

Let's see...possession, admitting to taking the drug. I'd say he's guilty.
I'm pretty sure that's part of the Police force's job.
Just because the pot was unlit and in his car, means nothing. He still had an illegal substance. It's not "personal business," it's friggin illegal.

You're right, i had just seen that and i didn't think out my post too well. Anyhow what was getting at was more the minor threat that marijuana poses inside a locked car in a parking lot. The reason that hemp is illegal is horse shit too, its all just a way for tabaco industries to make money, but yeah, you're right.
