Good idea?

So the idea is to make a new series of defence game's called "The Dictator's" which is about the history of the world and some of the dictator's of the time and their rise and fall's. Each game takes on a different age. The first will be about the prehistoric-stone age.
And the age's will be like this.
1. Prehistoric-stone age
2. Great civilizations of the past
3. Dark-midevil age's
4. Renassaince
5. Colonial age's
6. WW1-WW2
7. Modern
8. Future

Yeah, it sounds like a good idea! Although it might be hard to keep originality when making eight games around the same theme but if you work hard on it this could be great.

Thank you for the support! So the normal game layout will be like this,
you start out with a troop which you have you're main leader to set up a base with. After that you can now work on offense and defense. If a enemy army attacks you it takes you to you're base where the army comes in a wave and you can create units before the battle for defense. But as soon as the battle starts you can not make any more units but you can realese units at different times. You get money by looting random neutral villages and winning fights. You can build more than one base at certain places. Then in offense you build a army and you can attack enemy armies or their bases.
That may not be the case for the final game though.

Ideas:
-Rather than looting villages in the modernish eras, steal oil.
-Be able to alter your troops equipment (paid for by cash). Better weapons, armour, etc (rpg-ish)
-Make it just one HUGE game. I don't know if this would work, but allow/force the player to evolve

Well that was my original idea was to make it one huge game but here are the problems with that:
#1. I started with the prehistoric-stone age's because it would be the easiest to start with, my flash coding is beginner, this will be my first game.
#2. It would take me about a year or so to complete that game.
#3. As time goes by in a reguler match, new technologies do appear, like the invention of fire will make you able to make a guy who sits on the cave (which is the base for the first game) which throws burning sticks at people.
#4. Maybe some day I could remake the whole game to make it one huge game.

Any more suggestions?

I think I should do it with AS3. Anybody know where I can get it?
And here is some concept art I did on paint because I didn't feel like doing it on flash.
It's one of the first troops you can get, a rock throwing caveman.

I downloaded the free trial to see if it's worth buying. What's better about AS3 then AS2?

seriously though, its more like a traditional OO language - if you're a coding beginner i'd say use flash cs3 with as2, you get a performance boost and friendlier language
if you want to invest alot of time in as3, however, the rewards in performance are huge

Im not a coder myself, but I have a very skilled partner who's working with me on the spore game.

I recommend the same for you, find a partner. I know it can be hard to find a good one, but I met up with my coder just by absolute chance.
