-RANT-

Call of duty 4 faces modern combat, like the Gulf War or the op in Somalia. WHAT THE FUCK ACTIVISION?! Call of Duty up to this point has been a WWII FPS, and a damn good one at that. Sure there are things they've left uncovered in Europe, but it was getting boring. They could have covered the Pacific theatre, there aren't enough of those games. But they decide not to do that either, they make a modern warfare game instead. Congratulations Activision, you've just fucked up one of the greatest game series' ever. You would have been much better off just ending it where it was, and giving your new gaming a different title. I for one refuse to so much as look at the game. Like I said before, WTF?

There aren't enough modern warfare games. There are alot of special ops style game, like ghost recon, were you are a decked out guy fighting some two bit terrorist running around with AK's... There are very few games that re-enact more modern warfare.

Besides. The Call of Duty series has just covered several major events in World War II, so it is now stale. I want to see new life being breathed in to the series (if they were to do a game in Vietnam, they better not screw it up.)

Yeh, I saw the preview earlier, and I was a little confused. Guess they just couldnt find anymore ideas to make a WW2 game about.

I don't really know what war this game looks like it's based on. Although, seeing the amount of blood in the game play trailer, I guess this will not be a T rated game.

They need a Call of Duty game where you fight the Japanese in stead of mowing down the same, generic, Hitler-loving Nazis.

I mean, c'mon, I've liberated Europe enough times already. Let's go west.

There's the trailer just released Saturday. I'm not sure if I will love or hate it.

It's about time.

Seriously, WWII gets boring, just the same shit over and over again. They need to make use of the engine and get some more modern weapons and scenarios.

Change can be good man, it looks very interesting and a new evolution. Think of it as resident evil 2 to resident evil 4. two good games but a giant new leap of improvement

World War II games are far too commonplace and boring. They made the right decision. Quit your bitching.

I'm glad CoD 4 isn't another World War 2 shooter. The game actually looks good too.

They've been pumping out CoD's lately.

The graphics look gorgeous. I'd say it has huge potential.

Yeah, I'd much rather fight the SAME FUCKING WAR IN EVERY GAME! I can't get enough of killing Nazis! Over and over and over, until my eyes cloud and my muscles atrophy!

For all you dumb shits who think it's about anything but the the series, THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! I'm not saying they shouldn't/can't make a modern warfare game, I'm saying they should use a different title. Also this dude is the only one who didn't overlook my other point. If they wish to continue the CoD series, they should do a Pacific theatre game, where you fight as the Chinese, Aussies, and of course, the AMERICANS! Defend mainland China from Japanese assaults, Fight for Australian air superiority, Attack Iwo Jima! But modern combat? It just ruins the series. I'd play it if it were under a different name. If you're going to reply, know what I'm talking about.

I'd like to play a WW2 game where you go the Nazis. I have seen a few, but only one in English. :(

BTW, you'd be playing as MARINES!!!

Firstly, I wouldn't call it one of the best gaming series ever. Far from it. CoD3 was pretty shit, and the first was somewhat superior to the second.

About the name thing, I agree with what you're saying: it's a different genre of shooter, so a different name would be appropriate. However, you have to look at things from a business perspective. Call of Duty is an established brand name, just like Sony keeping the established PlayStation brand with their new PS3, and Microsoft keeping the XBOX brand with their XBOX 360. So if you see what I'm saying, calling it Call of Duty 4 will probably mean higher sales.

Heres one for a link to the trailer

Haven't played COD 3 yet....but my brother, who i've played COD 2 with on the 360, says its practically the same. I can vouch for him: I usually hear the cries of "Ahholliganshoffen" from the Germans just like in COD 2 lol.

I'm hoping that this new, modern version of the series won't be as much of a disappointment that I saw out of Battlefield for 360, Ghost Recon for 360, and COD 3. I trust EA on this one, however, COD being one of the best war-based series of games so far (I liked it nearly as much as Day of Defeat:Source) and the campaign/multiplayer always a blast.

srsly what 'new features' are they going to bring with this game

all those games are just large maps, loads of players, units etc

you cant even ride planes in cod, they already failed

They have more than 3. It's more like maybe 6 or 7.
