You CAN get Windows XP with a new Dell computer if you order it from a business. Who needs Vista, when you can have XP that wastes no memory.
Specs: Q9400 - OC to 3.2 Ghz, RAM: 4GB - 667/800 Mhz, Geforce GTX 465, Win 7 Professional

You know, you're more than likely going to want Vista eventually. Considering that the best way to upgrade is to get it pre-installed on a new machine, I'm not sure what you're complaining about.
Being misinformed makes you crazy like that.

Pretty much what rage said. Eventually your giong to have to upgrade. Like all other operating system, they become obsolete. 98 not even supported any more, and 2000 is close to being the same. So xp might be fine for the next 2- 4 years, but eventually vista will take it's place.
YOU CAN GET VISTA FOR FREE IF YOU BUY AN ALIENWARE COMPUTER, WHICH IS FAR SUPERIOR IN EVERY WAY SHAPE AND FORM OF THE MATTER.
If you're going to be gaming in the next year, you're going to need Vista... unless you play outdated games.

Vista doesn't waste memory in fact it's proven it's more efficient in memory caching than XP is... you fail.

All of my machines are Dell computers. My home parents use Dell, my Personal computer is a Dell gaming machine, and my development computer at work is a Dell Dimension 9200.
I've yet to have any problems in any way, shape, or form.

Vista is a really shitty platform. I prefer to get Kubuntu or XP instead.

Vista is better in one major aspect in that it supports multiprocessors. But, it does waste a couple of hundred MB's of RAM.

Vista is Microsoft's failure to compete with Linux. Is just like comparing IE7 with FireFox.

Vista is no different than XP most of the time, and do you really want to put an underdeveloped OS like Linux on a brand new PC? If you think Vista is restricting then good luck figuring out how to delete files on that external drive you've got, because in Linux it's read only. Not to mention Linux doesn't use that brand new PC to its full potential, so there's money down the drain.

I'm going to wait for the next OS before I upgrade.
Microsoft always supports the latest OS and 2 back. Most game developers and software companies will also do the same. XP will have the most support considering the fact that the majority of computer users are, and will be using it for years to come.
