Yesterday I got home late and saw a note that was stuffed in the mail, explaining that two candidates (I forget who :( I'm so bad) are against Section 8 housing in South Philadelphia. The note listed the addresses of the houses in the area under Section 8, how much rent they were worth monthly, and how much the tenants actually paid per month. The flyer urged to "Vote for our neighborhood!" Vote NO for Section 8!"
So what are your feelings on Section 8?
Quote of the day: @Nysssa "What is the word I want to use here?" @freakapotimus "Taint".

section 8. Around here, we call it HUD. Basically its the difference between people who are self sufficient, and those who use government aid programs. It is the mark of the ghetto. Section 8 housing is the death-nell of property values.

Because 2,000 years of "For God so loved the world" doesn't trump 1.2 million years of "Survival of the Fittest."

Through the Department of Housing and Urban Developmentās Section 8 voucher program, the federal government provides apartment owners with subsidies, paid by local housing authorities, that make up the difference between fair market rents and what renters can afford to pay. Section 8 is very important for low income families. HUD is an organization that mainly helps with buying a house. In NYC The New York Housing Authority is no longer accepting Section 8 applications EXCEPT these 3 categories listed below, until further notice:
1.Victim Of Domestic Violence
2.Homeless
3.Intimidated Witness

i think nyc has the right idea about section 8.. the last thing that south philly needs is something to make its property values plummet (therefore severely harming the schools).. and i would know, i'm a philly native.
philly pride.. go sixers (even tho they lost this year boohooo)
