Time is holding their yearly "100 Most Influential" list right now, but for ths year, they added a twist. They let people vote on the web. So that pretty much explains why, with a rating of 84%, Colbert is holding on first place right now, 5 points of Rain (never heard of that guy, he's a Korean pop singer...) and 7 points of the Miyamoto man!
See the entire list and vote here.
Other fun facts about the list :
Barack Obama is #13, Al Gore #33, Bill Clinton #35 and Hilarry #81. Not looking good for the ex-lady, but at least she's on the list. Bush is presently holding on at #99, with a 50-50 score.

They're honestly letting teenage Internet users decide the fate of the "Man of the Year" award?
Remember when something like this was actually considered an "honor"?
Someone once asked me why I call myself Unimportant. Simple, I said. As a nihilist, that's what I see everyone and everything as. In the end, we are all Unimportant.

Seriously, not to be noticed by acting like a rebel but, Stephen Colbert is nothing special, at all. If anything HIS WRITERS should be mentioned, not just himself as the orator of their message.

He got them through his show. Remember the former Stephen Colbert Bridge?

When you actually think about it Stephen Colbert being named man of the year shouldn't come as a shock. His way of shining light upon political issues using satire/ sarcastic monologues has great influence on the American public.... I found it kind of funny that Dane Cook was on the top five... he's not a political comedian... he's just a comedian.

And Rain is only a pop singer, and Sidney Crosby is a rookie hockey player, etc. etc.
Let's make things clear. Even though it's pretty nice to see people like Colbert and Miyamoto get some recognition, this list is uterly useless...

Have you seen how much effort he puts into the show? He writes a lot of it, a lot of it is impromptu, and, what's more, he even is involved with a lot of the editing.
Think you're pretty clever...

Yeah, you beat me to it.
I'd say between him and Jon Stewart, they probably cover most of the writing in his shows. Plus, Colbert does all the interviews with the politicians, and well, you can't write his classic facial expressions that go along with the absurb questions he asks. :)
Still a world famous superstar.
