actually that is about industry standard. It's not uncommon to have to model a character, all it's gear, a functional and complicated background, all unwrapped, entirely rigged, already lit, and ready for animation all in about 1 to 3 days. considering that all the research notes and reference is ready. if not you''ll have to do all those as well.
Not easy, but if you have the drive, it's worth it. >.>....and if your working for a studio, it'll be all done on their computers which can also be very out of date sometimes
