Been working on this character for a while, still in fairly early stages. I created the armor in max 8 and am detailing in zbrush. I just need to make his mail shirt, boots, gauntlets, sword and his shield then they need to be detailed.

That's pretty awesome work you got there, dude! How long did it take you to get to this point?

New to this thread, posted a bit in the old one a lonng time ago, just something ive been working on for the first time in awhile (Old PC exploded) to add to my portfolio for uni if it turns out good enough, its my attempt at Rare's Banjo, its incomplete because Ive currently got a cough and cold thats killing me, but I hope to start working on it again soon.

I found this excellent site for textures, it's incredible, has everything you could ever need:

Yeah, it is actually. Should've put that up there a while ago. Of course they're no substitute for self made textures in the end.

Hey, just wondering what the best 3D program is for lower end computers... right now i use swif.t 3D and its fine and all (a little devoid of features / plugins except for its iffy flash compatibility) but is there anything better that wont totally murder my older computer...

well anyway (even though ive already posted it) Here's my first big 3D project... might go back and add better textures / blood splatters but other than that its done.

to be honest no 3d program is good for a low end computer.
hell I'm still saving up to get a quad core for mine, cause this single doesn't cut it.
I guess if you keep your models pretty simple you can try maya, it seems less intensive than max, or atleast in my opinion.
but I prefir Max over Maya, (first teachings crupt) lol

I might take a look at maya, simple models aren't really my thing... might take a look at blender if i can figure out the hideous interface, it seems light enough.

as far as swift goes, although it is really bad as far as features go, it seems processor light and i can do decently good things with it, but its quite simple and a real pain when trying to do complicated stuff with.

hey peeps. Started animating this sample piece for a potential work venture today. Anyhow, couldn't help myself, so I took a quick render of one of the shots. At the moment I'm just blocking out the animation, extra details such as facial animation and so forth will be animated in later...

Oh and I might as well throw my 2 cents into the pipe...Maya's very good (I use it nowadays) but it can be pretty tricky to learn if you're just starting off. It can seem pretty technical at first. I started off mainly on 3DS Max and that was an excellent start for me. (and also there's plenty more learning resources on the internet for learning Max then there is for Maya at the moment)

Cheers mate ;)

I've finally been able to upload this animation (thanks to my crappy internet connection atm) - you can catch it here on youtube - link
Animated it in about 2 days. Now I can get on with my holidays and get back to working on a flash animation project of mine :)

I started to make wolverine, lots of people have made 3d models of him so i thought i'd try. The hair isn't perfect but i think it looks ok i'd quite like peoples opinions on his hair though, be much appreciated.
