Nice idea for a wall lamp, i'd love to see it rendered in a living room setting scene, or something of the sort.

Last piece I made for my concentration in my AP Drawing Portfolio, 3D studio max 7 + photoshop.

This is for a sci-fi comic strip I'm working on. No actual episodes just yet, only test renders. I've improved the hands since that last render.

Haven't thought of a name for it yet :/

Also, a ~40m long starship I'm working on, for a game in development:

I think the texture needs more detail tbh.

the first thing you should learn is how to navigate in whatever program's 3d space look up 3d studio navigation on google and you should be able to find some pointers usually it's a combination of the alt+ctrl+and the mouse buttons for 3d navs I haven't played with max for about a year so i can't quite remember which buttons it uses

ok change the gun barrel colour to black and make it slightly reflective, thatll make it more realistic. also maybe add a wood texture for the butt.

Looks like the shapes are intersecting rather than being one mesh. It could cause Z-buffer errors ingame.

Been modelling since last year. Glad you like it.

Anyway you tend to get better results modelling something as one complete mesh rather than as several intersecting shapes, UV mapping and texturing is simpler, lighting and smoothing is better, and there's no z-buffer issues as I said. There should be boolean functions in your modeller which can merge the objects together, but you'll probably have to check the joining areas for unneeded verticies and eliminate them. It's a bit more work, but I think you get a better end result.

For a shotgun, I'd have the moving parts as seperate objects to make the animations easier, but still keep the faces of the seperate objects from intersecting

Damn I wish this forum had an edit button.

By the way, don't use pure black (#000000) unless there's absoutly no chance that light will go there. The inside of the barrel would be fine as black, but everything else should be shades of grey.

interesting... smoothen out the pointy parts and make it more rounded... so you get a more hourglass figure rather than just a thin one.

Thanks a lot. Though I've been having more trouble with the face than the body.

Been working on the face and head, the hair needs a different aproach altogether.

I'll stop spamming my stuff after this :)

ummm nudity in games is far far too comon, i may sound like im preaching but it makes girls seem like stereotyped sluts which they aint, its advisable to keep that sort of stuff off the thread unless its for proper artistic purposes...

The only full on nudity in games that I can think of are community created content hacks for games like The Sims and WoW, and that happens because men play them, men like nekid women, men make the content hacks.

If you're talking about games like DoA, then it's not the nudity that does it there, it's the jiggle physics and the fact that the whole franchise is based around pretty girls with no personalities fighting for no reason. I watched the first 10 minutes of the DoA film before losing the will to live. Sure it was nice to look at but things like plot and characters and -a point- are all important if you're going to make any kind of film that isn't full on porn, for a game, I don't care as long as it's fun.

If you're talking about Tomb Raider, the early Lara Crofts were basicly 'OMG look, a 3D woman! BEWBS!' and again she wasn't actually nude unless you used the cheat. The most recent Laras are far more mature and sophisticated since the novelty of 3d boobs have worn off.

Anyway, my model wasn't for a game, it was a technical excersize in modelling the human body, human bodies are naturally naked and women are more fun to model than men and also, I think, harder to get right. Also I did include a bikini so she isn't nude :)
