This is a kitchen I made for architecture class earlier in the year. The school only bought the "learning" edition, which is why the textures aren't incredibly elaborate.

Personally, I use the open-source 3D application "blender." (Because it's free, and downloadable from the Blender website.)
Although, from what I've heard from other 3D artists, Blender is a real dump-crap of a program to use... So I probably wouldn't advise it.

That said, I'm producing passable CGI models at the moment, so it's not impossible to work with.

to take an animation course so I have an excuse to use the computer.
I swear to god in my courses this year all we do is cut straight lines with
exacto knives, and if you talk about doing anything on a computer they look
at you like you're speaking chinese.

Here's a sort of futuristic race craft that I made...
It will be textured up this week. It will be featured in my class's final project together this semester.

This is a pretty rough n quick paint job. I also did more sculpting on the face as well as tweaking all over. All from my head so far (except for a quick ref to get eye size right), I'm going to borrow some anatomy texts from the library and do some real studies.

Hmm. The back of his calves look a little... "raw" in that frame, if you know what I mean.

Since I'm not familiar with your software, I'll have to revert to using Blender terminology.

It looks like you need to set those faces to be "smooth"...

The course i'm taking is Multimedia Design. We only done some 3d for 1 year.. didnt have anymore unfortunatly... its just mostly dreamweaver and flash on the course. You have some amazing work.. you using z-brush?

Hey I just started using blender and on one of the tutorials it says to use the middle mouse button but I'm on a macbook and don't have a middle mouse button. Is there anything else I can do?

It says in the same tutorial, if you mean the video tutorial, how to do it, but i don't remember what it was cause I don't have a Mac

Ya I mostly use zbrush, but I'm trying to get better at maya so I'm going to start doing more and more with it. Hopefully I can find some digital media stuff at my uni next year.
