In my opinion Barack is an okay guy. He definitely deserves a chance as president. However, I feel bad for the guy. Just because of his name, I can guarantee he'll get no support from anyone in the hick states.
The hick states are pretty much anyone who supported Bush
Barack
Hussein
Obama
I doubt a single hick will acknowledge the fact that he's Hawaiian. They'll look at his first name and laugh. Then they'll look at his middle name and think he's an evil dictator. Finally, if they didn't look at his last name already, they'll think he's a terrorist.
I just hope he gets somewhere among the sea of ignorant rednecks.

This particular hick acknowledges that Obama was born in Hawaii...however this does not mean he is Polynesian. His father is from Kenya and his mother is from Witchita, KS. His parents met and married after meeting at the U of Hawaii.
The reason this redneck will not vote for Obama is not the reasons you listed but rather his ideology simply conflicts with what I believe is good for the country. He is too far left, likewise I would never vote for a Pat Buchanon because he is the opposite and too far right. Both extremes are bad for this country.
Furthermore, I do not think he has any relevant experience for the job of President. He is a first term Senator with little or know record to provide a basis to vote for or against him.
The very idea that you would think that "hicks" or "rednecks" would not vote for someone based upon their name just shows how ignorant you are of people in the fly-over country.
Damn arrogant elitists...

Why exactly is anyone who voted for Bush a redneck ? and if a person chooses not to vote for Barack it could very likely be the fact6 they don't like his politics, or think he is to new and therefore don't really know what he stands for or if he is simply somebody's Pawn.

I am not sure, after all I'm just an ignorant hick from Missouri, but I though the "/" symbol meant division which would produce a quotient...not a sum. I always thought a sum was what you got when one performed addition which is represented by the "+" symbol....
Or perhaps you were simply mentioning that the combination of Hussien & Obama equates to Muslim which in turn equates to Terrorist.
I am truly sorry Emmy, but your mixing of grammer and arithmatic has adled my substandard hick brain. I'm so lost and confused that I might just go home and kick the wife & fuck the cat!

He should have said Hussain V Obama => Muslim <=> Terrorist, maybe the first conditional should be an equivalence as well if you assume that all Muslims are called either Hussain or Obama. But I hope this won't interfere with the special relationship between you and your cat.

Thank you my wise friend! I am too stupid and ignorant to understand such sophisticated reasoning...this damned hick brain and all!
As for the cat...I feel sorry for poor Fe-fe. Ever since the divorce she's been having to pull double duty.

Okay, thanks for summing up my entire thread into two lines.
And when I mean "anyone who voted for Bush," I'm referring to states like Texas, with all of the fat, 70-year-old stereotypical nationalists. I can guarantee it's these ignorant, over-patriotic dumb fucks which will be the leading factor in preventing Obama from going anywhere in the '08 election.
And if you'd actually stop being such presumptuous cocks, I don't even fully support Obama. I agree with some of his actions, but from what I've heard, I don't give him my full support.
I'm just saying that even if he had the smartest and most logical choices for the future, he wouldn't even get a chance just because he's a bit young and his name is Barack Hussein Obama.

You're a fucking moron. I was going to let it slide but now you're just showing how dumb you are.
You're accusing other people of being ignorant and using stereotypes based on your own ignorance and stereotypes.
Barack Obama, REGARDLESS of his name is too left wing and too out of touch with conservative Americans to get much support in Texas. John Edwards is white, southern, and an evangelical Christian yet he still isn't going to get any more support in Texas than Barrack Obama.
I can guarantee it's these ignorant, over-patriotic dumb fucks which will be the leading factor in preventing Obama from going anywhere in the '08 election.
I love it how you assume that since they are "over-patriotic" they aren't going to vote for Barrack Obama. But doesn't that tell you something?
Maybe they care more about their COUNTRY than you do? Thus they are more inclined to reject a candidate like Obama based on his policies for OUR COUNTRY, rather than what his fucking skin color and last name is. I think you're too focused on bashing Americans who don't share your views, that your projecting your own ignorance on them.
And if you'd actually stop being such presumptuous cocks, I don't even fully support Obama. I agree with some of his actions, but from what I've heard, I don't give him my full support.
OMG you're racist OMG OMG OMG you're a fat racist asshole redneck, hick, fascist, confederate evil monster from Texas... you only don't give him your full support because he's not a white American with an European name!!
Get it?
I'm just saying that even if he had the smartest and most logical choices for the future, he wouldn't even get a chance just because he's a bit young and his name is Barack Hussein Obama.
Actually he wouldn't get a chance in Texas because hes:
1. anti-gun
2. pro-choice
3. Against Iraq war, pro-arbitrary deadline for withdrawal. AKA pro defeat, something those "over-patriotic" Texans you talk about obviously don't like.
4. inexperienced
5. pro-amnesty for illegal immigrants
6. pro-affirmative action
7. pro-universal health care. AKA pro- tax increases
8. very liberal in basically every single policy choice their is
9. DEMOCRAT!
He is going to be rejected by Texans on those grounds, just like any other politician like him would, regardless of their race, last name, etc.
Yay, Obama won. Let's thank his supporters:
-The compliant mainstream media for their pro-Obama propaganda.
-Black Panthers for their intimidation of voters.

or it could be his lack of actual credentials, we will have to see. of course it could be that his agenda is not well liked by many people.
And if you'd actually stop being such presumptuous cocks, I don't even fully support Obama. I agree with some of his actions, but from what I've heard, I don't give him my full support.

Well who's being a presumptuous cock now? you just assume that because he isn't a white male with a white male name that he won't even have a chance, which is simply not true.
I'll break this down and make it easy for you
1. many people will vote for their party no matter what
2. many people will vote for obama just because he ISN'T a white male
3. many people won't vote for obama because he isn't a white male
4. many people will vote for whoever fits their views best
5. many people will simply not vote at all
6. some people will vote on an indepenent candidate.
I'd say Obama has a decent shot, as long as he runs a good campaign. of course both sides will be smearing the hell out of each other, but that's with any election.
I'm not crazy, everyone else is.

People are super-sensitive about calling someone a negro (who uses that word anymore i dunno) because its against the law to be rasist- well if its against the law to be rasist how is it legal to not vote for some1 b/c there last name is of middle-eastern decent?! ok rasist is not just to black ppl (i mean no offence of course, thats just the most common example) its to every rase!!!! GOD!!!

Do you have absolutely NOTHING better to do all day than sit around be just as biggoted in your opinions as the people you despise? I mean, seriously! "OMG hicks aren't gonna vote for him because he's black, nyuck nyuck nyuck."
You know why I'm not going to vote for him? (1) he's too liberal for my tastes, and (2) I don't want to put the poor guy in harm's way, because you KNOW some extremist Aryan Nation whackjob is going to come out of the woodworks and go looking for an opprotunity to take him out, and I for one do not want to be guilty party to that.

But....they won't because they are "hicks". Its not like "hicks" are a race, they are a social class similar to "chav". A hick is basically racist by definition, or at least in the sense it being used here it is. Hick doesn't mean "someone who is more rightwing than Barrack Obama, or someone who lives in the country, 'Hick' means someone who won't vote for Obama because he is black and shares a name with Saddam Hussein
From wikipedia " Hick (also country hick or country bumpkin) is a derogatory term for a person from a rural area. It connotes a degree of crude simplicity and backward conservatism in values, manners, and more"

Alright, let's see how you do.
People are super-sensitive about calling someone a negro (who uses that word anymore i dunno) because its against the law to be rasist
No, it's not against the law to be racist. Haven't you heard of the Klan, the Black Panthers, et cetera? They are completely legal grops.
- well if its against the law to be rasist how is it legal to not vote for some1 b/c there last name is of middle-eastern decent?!
It is completely legal to not vote someone because of anything of your choosing. It is completely legal for someone to not vote for someone because they were born somewhere, are a fan of a certain sports team, or because they are black.
ok rasist is not just to black ppl (i mean no offence of course, thats just the most common example) its to every rase!!!! GOD!!!
It's racist, not 'rasist'. I'm also willing to bet that more black people are prejudiced against whites than whites against blacks.
grow up if you think his name will stop him from being elected!!
Racism is a very real thing. Many people are ignorant enough to not vote for someone because of their ancestry or their name.

to you it does and you know it. you can't STAND the idea of someone not voting liberal, so you go and start spouting words like "racist" and "hick". get real, I'm not voting for Obama because he's a stereotypical liberal zombie.

Here's my point, and in fact you did call me a hick because I fall under the Wiki definition that you quoted:
I am from rural Missouri.
I do not like big cities and like my life simple rather than complex.
I tend to be more conservative than liberal. However, you would be surprised at how many people from the rural areas tend to be of more of a live and let live philosophy. In fact the worst examples of racism I've seen has been when I've lived in an urban setting. Whereas the small town I came from tends to teach our children that the use of the "n-word" is something that is unacceptable.
What is wrong with politeness? What is wrong with temperate morality where I do not give into excess?
Oh yeah, while I am from the country I have still traveled abroad and traveled extensively in my own country (which is made up of several diverse regions). I have a BS and a MS and in August I begin a PhD program. And I do not plan on voting for Obama or Hilary (but I would vote for Richardson if the Republicans would nominate someone other than Rudy or Fred Thompson).
Funny thing is I would get in trouble for calling someone a "nappy headed ho" or "n"...but it is okay for me to be called a hick or redneck. Gotta love the double standard (or immaturity) in this brave new world of western political correctness!

Just because you're Scottish doesn't mean you're immune from being any worse than the people you despise.
And in the context it was originally used here (not by me, I may add lol), it was used as A: an insult but also B: an insult to a particular type of person who displays this "backwards conservatism", ie a Christian who hates non-Christians, probably flies a confederate flag on his trailer and who would not vote for Barrack Hussein Obama on the basis that his name sounds middle eastern.
'Asshole' is an insult, its ad hominem and whatever else but it is used to describe someone as a bad person (not literally 'an asshole'). But if I called someone who did wouldn't vote for someone based on colour or (percieved) race an asshole I doubt you would get all high and mighty sticking up for assholes everywhere. What annoys me most is that neither of you two are "hicks". You might irritate the fuck out of me but despite what the mason says he is not stupid, he's not a "backwards conservative" (shorthand for 'racist'), his views and mine just differ. For example. I grew up in a fishing village with about 500 people in it, one shop and a church. I am not the scottish equivalent of a 'hick'. But I know people who are. I know people who would not vote for someone because he is a 'n____', regardless of what they are told in school or by anyone else. Tell me that there are not people like that anywhere in the deep south of America, and I wil stop using the word 'hick' to describe them.
