Ok so thse have been done before, but hey this ones good, honest. Im using an alt because... well it should be obvious. I'm not wade zilla, i was just being a wiseass when I made this account

I typed this on another board, but heck, why shouldn't i pass it around? Fetishes are something I feel we need to understand. Actually I don't get transformations, I use this as a sort of make shift gts comumunity. Could someone explain it to me?

Anyway:

My head is a little muddled, my eyes are stinging from over use of the computer, and I don't even know where to begin with this. I always think my long serious posts are scary. This post took me a helluva long time to type as I had to think and look up stuff and it’s the longest bloody post I've ever made. I hope it doesn’t get too waffly, if theirs a problem feel free to point it out. Their were an arse load of typos, but I fixed them…. I think.
This post is so stupidly long, I’m actually dividing it into sections.

1) About me
I am a troubled person, raised a Roman Catholic (though heading for Non Denominational...), I none the less consider myself a fairly devout Christian. But my sexuality is... unbalanced. No, I am undoubtly straight... but rather odd. But I'll get to that.
I have had an interesting in psychology for a long time, having an intense desire to understand people and being greatly helped be a psychologist. And feeling tainted by this after an incident of sorts with a female friend (nothing like THAT but not good..) I vowed I try my hardest to understand sexuality

2) What’s a fetish? Fetish/fantasy debate
What is a fetish?..... Actually this is a tricky one, and I think it’s more complex than people make it out to be. A fetish is essentially a fantasy, your mind is fixated on or more ideals and somehow reacts sexually to it, even when the stimuli would not seem sexual. I guess the name comes from the fact that this is objectifying a woman or something (a fetish is also a mystical object used for spell casting, but that’s not what this thread is about).

At least... I think this is the definition of a fetish, but looking at some things it seems incomplete.
What defines a fetish? If I asked a certain friend of mine if he had a fetish, I'm sure he would say and sincerely believe he doesn't. But he certainly seems to like defiant rebellious girls, and doesn't that count? And don't most men like breasts?
Also though, what separates a fetish from a fantasy? I mean in many cases a fetishes can be a fantasy (like being under someone’s care, or the odd feeling of security from being completely under someone's control (yeah that’s an odd one isn't it). Also though heterosexual men can fantasise about big penises to give themselves a feeling of sexual power, or heterosexual woman about big breasts or something (though the female gender spends more time looking at the female form so that they can rate each other and perfect there’s... or something. My understanding of the opposite gender is still developing, but I think I'm on to something here).
The thing that makes it hard to distinguish, a fantasy and a fetish may be indulged for the same reason, to conjure up desirable feelings (like a feeling of power, or safety, or love, etc), or it may be you wish to relive a past experience or work out your feelings (the appeal behind many of the more Machoistic fetishes) or pass them on (in the case of bad experiences, this could be the appeal behind Sadistic fetishes, although power is truly the ultimate aphrodisiac).
But I'm kind of confused here, I read a book called "They **** you up". Its a best selling psychology book about the impact our parents had on us on children.
One case study was look at heterosexual sex offenders who attacked little boys. You may think that’s a contradiction. But looking at his past, he finds the same thing happen to him, the thoughts and feelings keep disturbing, he says he could feel the semen of his attacker and he had to pass the toxin of his body (something of a metaphor).
Either way it seems to be about experiencing certain emotions, or having an avatar or "object" experience them.
So having a fixation on this, would it be a fetish or a fantasy? Are fantasies so different from fetishes? I mean I'm sure even the most "normal" people have fantasised about being powerful, or having a legion of friends (feeling loved) or something. It might not seem it, but the feelings stirred aren't always so different.

Fetishes generally come from the conditions we have in childhood, although different people react differently, so its not a given the exact same circumstances will produce the exact same fetish in someone. I'm not sure, but I also believe it is possible for a fetish/es to develop during early adolescence, perhaps if we fixate too much on an idea or something? I guess it’s possible it can develop later, if a person were exposed to the right stimuli?
Fetishes can also appeal to our natural instincts, like to be mothered or to protect someone or something.
Some of this can include role reversal.

3) Fetishes I’ve seen and try to understand

I'd appreciate possible explanations and theories, paritcurly where I lack them. Fetishes can have multiple dimensions and can have many different strands and mean very different things to different people

Anyway that’s all I can think to say on the general topic of fetishes, here's a bunch I've seen and why. It is quite possible for people to mix and match, switch between fetishes, hold contradictory fetishes (females in particular find it easier to be one both ends of a spectrum, their minds better suited for empathising):

Age Progression: To an extent, don't a lot of us do this? "Wouldn't she look hot in a few more years?" or something. I guess it qualifies as a fetish if you become fixated on it. I asked one guy for his opinion on it, and he said it was fun to watch the curves or something. No I'm not into it although Flonne with a few more human years.......

Age Regression: The reverse of the above. I do not actually understand this one, I even tried reading so AR stories (reading fetish stories and trying to read the author is fun). I guess it could reflect some urge to parent or be parented? It also seems to be about the loss of power or control for the target, and maybe something innocence I don't know. They do seem to emphasise the breasts deflating and stuff.

Furries: People rejected or mistreated so that they feel more connected with animals (usually a certain one or a set) or feel separate from standard humans. I'm not a furry but this is definitely a feeling I can identify with... dam high school.
I've read on the gamefaqs furry board (Furopon world) that furries look in the mirror and they say an anthropomorphic animal staring back. Not literally of course.
Feeling lonely when this community and 2 other communities of mine feel I dwelled among furries for a while (I did share a common fetish with the particular group... Ill get to that), I believe most of them ARE NOT into bestiality, and many do not even dream of fur sex (2 furries in fur suits having sex... yes it happens, they actually put holes in the suit... if it disgusts, look at this way, at least they can't reproduce via that method).
Another part of it seeing desirable attributes of animals and placing them in humans, or something like that.
Theirs also bestiality, which is sex (or fantasying about sex) with actual animals.... the reasons generally aren’t that much different to the above, but I guess they feel even more disconnected. Horses are also a popular target because they are famously well endowed... I know I should be freaking out, but at this level of understanding it takes more than this to do so.

Normally this would be considered furry, but I say you don't have to be furry to think its cute.
Other variations include Dog boys (or rarely girls, but they tend to look odd), Fox girls/boys, or some other pseudo furry combinations. The attributes are probably different (though innocence and often seems to be a prevailing theme), but the idea is roughly the same.

Size: Ahh the on you people were probably waiting for. And I have lots to say here, but I'm getting sleepy (this is like my longest bloody post ever... and good grief its about sexual deviancy). The reasons I put size is their 50 million flavours of this one, and in fact its not one fetish, it’s many. Then we have the classic liking of a giant Man/Woman/animal hybrid/actual animals (I've seen it on writing.com .... so help us all). This can include any or all, I don’t know how many at the same time or in the same person. This usually comes from an overly strong role of a parent on a child, and the treatment that parent shows effects how it manifests on the child (so like, if they were treated poorly their more likely to like the psychopathic ones). Theirs also gentle, and theirs mischievous and theirs whatever the hell the author feels like, or just switching half way through. My ones are exceptionally weird.

A common one is that the giantess acts like a violent psycho, possible living out the author’s vengeance fantasies, or they get it watching someone on a power kick, or their reliving past abuse. I think this can also be used to describe domination.
Giantess can also be about the feeling of returning to the womb, which some people take literally (putting someone in their *special place*, sometimes NOT against their own will). Some like to have a normal sized person with a tiny sized person, emphasizing the tiny's helplessness. Some have the giant or giantess "punishing" the person, which possibly brings us to that reliving thing.
I guess it can simply be the desire to be looked after.

On the other side of the coin is shrunken people. I mean when your imagining yourself the tiny sized person and focusing on the normal sized person, its functionally the same as giant or giantess (although many prefer growth). Or a variation of the first, instead of imagining yourself really big, you imagine yourself shrinking people for your power trip, and you don't have the awkwardness of being too dam big.

I do not claim to know everything about fetishes (part of my reason for posting this thread is to widen my knowledge).
For gay, it could be some kind of equvilent(like how you often get one persona cting girl in a homosexual relationship),and for the others it could be a power trip, or being whole with somone or something

4) Common aspects of fetishes

Work in progress, but hey what part of this isn’t? As always thoughts and comments appreciated.
There are many, many different fetishes out there, more no doubt than we could ever be aware of. But they tend to share common components with other fetishes.
Here are some I’ve seen. A fetish will often be made up of 1 or more these, almost never all of them, though it is possible for someone to be interested in 2 conflicting elements)
1) Helpless/powerlessness of the fetish “object” (I hate that word, but then there is a reason why it’s used). More common in guys as we tend to have the instinct to be on top and lead, and also a helpless or vulnerable girls awakens our protective instincts. Of course this can also be in females, awakening their maternal instincts and/or just making them feeling safe.
2) Helpless/powerlessness of self. The psychology site I posted says it far better than I could .

Actually, Freud missed the point by claiming that all adult unconscious conflicts derive from repressed infantile sexual impulses, because they don’t. But still, in missing the point, Freud points to the right thing: infantile experience.

Well, it’s the experience of lying naked and helpless during dressing, feeding, bathing, etc. And in this experience are complex emotions of both pleasure and violation. In fact, making the transition from total helplessness as a mere object to total responsibility in subjective being defines the psychological task of child development.

This “total responsibility” is also a profound spiritual task that few of us actually negotiate fully. Yes, we stumble through the psychological transition from infancy to adulthood, but still some part of us balks at the idea of taking full adult responsibility to understand and commit ourselves to meaningful life. And so we have fantasies that keep trying to pull us back into that infantile helplessness. The crucial point to grasp here is that as adults we experience these infantile emotional yearnings as adult sexual scenes. It’s as if a profound unconscious “short-circuit” connects our reproductive biology with our infantile need to be seen and accepted.

3) A feeling of safety or protection. I think this applies to almost all fetishes, even the masochistic ones (bizarrely, one could feel safe under someone’s heel (metaphorically or literally). And freedom is a scary thing, because it means responsibility

4) The feeling of freedom or liberation. Maybe the conditions one feels safe to express oneself? I don’t fully understand this.

5) A power trip. Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac, etc. I suspect this aspect might be more popular in people frustrated at society or the world. Can involve having your power trip through the opposite (or same sex, if you swing that way) object as well your “avatar”

6) The feeling of being free from harm. Probably strongly linked with the last one, but I feel it warrants a separate category.

7) I think this plays into number 4 or, but theirs also the apsect that those conditions allows you to be you

There are probably more, but these are all I can think of at the moment. Suggestions welcome.
I theorize our imagination replays part of our past (not as stupid as it sounds) or creates something to fill the part in us that is missing it. So I believe particular fetishes either come from the way we are raised (or the conditions) at a very young age or something we see puts the idea in our head (though it is more likely that it is awakening something that is already there)
Oh and an important note, the same fetish can apply to different people for different reasons.

Uniforms. With uniforms comes ideas. For school girl uniforms their is innocence, and whatever else gets attached to them, for maids, their is having someone at your service or something, and for army uniforms, their is a certain strength a soldier has, or maybe its something to do with being part of an organization. My knowledge here is far from complete and I wouldn't mind further help

Robots(I'm not making this up!): Either people think being a robot is cool, or its that having someone at your disposal thing. I guess it works because you assign certain attributes to this group and looks up to them for that. I guess this can go for elves, Catgirls or help us all, paedophilia.

Yoai: You know, guy on guy stuff. Or those soapy “romance” (and I mean some attempt romance) involving 2 guys. You’ll notice they usually act very girly. This wouldn’t be that much different form Yuri or girl on girl stuff, but generally fem/fem focuses on teh HAWTNESS or something, and they don’t act ungirly (I think , who knows, do you think I read much of it?).
So theirs the standard porn efficiency. But I think theirs something about the guys acting girly, which is why I put it here. Transformation: Something combined with other fetishes, but the process of transforming is appealing enough that to some people it’s a fetish in itself. Its appealing because of the vulnerability of the person, and the rapid change (possible mirroring puberty?). My knowledge of this needs work. As for eyes, well eys are what you used to read a person, its likelly you looked into your mothers face a lot and thus it became imprinted on you. Or some other exeprince lead you to focusing n eyes, but its usally our mother (its because of the rapid devlopment of the brain at that age, hence its easy to imprint things on it. Also why you can imprint things in adolecnse (though its less likely, and anything that comes there is ussally because of something from the past, as opposed to any new idea (unless it awakened something that was already there).

And Frank: Maybe its the innocne or seeming vulerabilty, maybe its some early memeory or maybe its beause you ascoite that night dresses with sleep and peacefulness, which could be ascoited with the feeling of safety.
