I think we are, every stain on our histrory, eg the crusades, the inquisition, and the nazi regime (all of which were fuelled by christinity, i should point out) makes us more aware of our flaws and gives us at least the option of making it better....while this option is not always taken advantage of by humanity right away, it usually is eventually. We only think of ourselves as improved because we have flashy technology and means of communication. Yes this is a self made improvement that took developed intelligence and thousands of years of learning to accomplish. But it certainly does not mean humanity as a whole is better or worse.

If you want to get into physical ability then obviously we are on a slump downwards, this is possibly the result of the increase of our intelligence replacing physical needs. This could very be our downfall as a species one of these days. Technologically ran society like we see today is fairly new. We have yet to experience a major downfall with one technology. When(not if) it happens and if its severe, we will have to rely once again on our physical state. But if we keep going how we are going, that physical state will not be the greatest.

The smart are doing more things at a faster rate then any time in human history. Science and technology is increacing exponentially. We are working on curing cancer and alsheimers, we are developing fusion energy, and computers keep getting smaller and smaller. Science and technology are chugging ahead.

The dumb are destroying culture. They dont have to worry about being smart, because the smart cover for them. they sit at home, and all they care about is celebrety marriges. They do as little work as required, and even then do it real half-assed.

the problem is, more and more, humanity is splitting into these two groups. We need to stop the splitting, and find some way to create a middle road, which everyone can follow.

The crime rates have droped, life spans have increased, and every day tools like modern transportation have improved making traveling great distances easier, cheaper, and safer then ever before.

Drug abuse is down education is up and last tiem I checked nobody was afraide of getting drafted, hit in a mob controleld drive by, or afraide to go to the bar because they might get shot over a game of poker. We don't live in grass huts, we don't have to hunt for our food or use any sort of food ration coupons, gas is plentyful, the weather is still nice, and security on a whole has increased 10 fold.

People today have more spare time then ever before and more fancy fun gadgets then any civilization on earth. We have everything from your priceless Wii to Cell Phones, cars that park themself, and wireless internet attached to every protable object with a video screen.
