I'm finally done with this mofo! Original character drawn from a stick figure pose.
This is the finished product of quite a bit of work.
the kind of work that I'm "normally" too lazy to do.. >.>; but..
I'm not really being lazy at all with anything here. went all out on this picture from start to finish. //

It's interesting to put the wireframe back over it and see the variations.
I think you may have made her upper left leg a little too long

I guess I'll comment for real on this.. >.>;
I wouldn't call it all that.. in fact I wouldn't call it that at all.
I'm still fairly new here and ever since MC came in and "moderated" our storyart forum I was like.." who the f- is this 'MindChamber' ". After laying low posting my work and observing I realized he is a respected artist here that has many people that will agree with him on what he thinks/ says (and for good reason too).
Instead of working my way up, I figured I'll start by showing someone very influential here what I can do and work my way down.
My art isn't prefect (even the Anime) but I think I can perform a lot better when competing against other or trying to prove a point. Overall it was a good learning experience and a great drawing exercise.
Actually when you think about he still can think I traced the realism drawing I did (though I didn't ) because the drawing I did was anime. But what I does show it that I can realize certain concepts on paper.
And I will continue to show that I can realize certain styles to paper / CG as I continue to improve my skill and post here. The realism drawings will come, but for now COW#30 is calling me... o_o/;
I am also glad something I did inspired you to "Take It To The Next Level" PL, as I will be doing the same thing from here on out.
Niiice work. The Shiva picture is my favourite out of this thread, and I like how you can flesh out a character out of someone else's skeleton (I'd like to think that it's some indication of skills). I find it really hard when my friend drew me a stick figure and asked me to turn it into a person; it always turn out wonky. I just have to draw the skeleton myself to get a feel of what I'm supposed to do.
Keep up the good work, dude.

It still does boggle my mind how badly you draw the male anatomy.That previous pic I wasn't using one. I'll take some time and seriously draw him, after I finish this one. Still doing the final line art.
I mean a skeleton is a skeleton..

more practice..
omg tits! grow up -_-;
You really need to work on your male arms. To quote MC, they look like linked sausages that were chewed up by dogs.
The elbow should be thicker and/or the muscles thinner/more relaxed, unless he actually happens to be flexing. The brachioradialis (the underside of the forearm) is not a very well developed muscle, even among bodybuilders, so unless he's lifting a heavy weight or is doing a bicep curl, it shouldn't bulge. It should just be a nice, smooth line with a slight outward curve from elbow to wrist.
These aren't the greatest quality pics, and he's lifting weights, so the muscles are more tensed out than they would normally be, but they're a pretty good portrayal of how the arm should look in various positions. http://www.heavyhandle.com/exercises/arms.htm l

i cant draw tits like that
very nice vortex, I need to learn that

Argh! What does that mean!? XD
..But I just realized it's probably because I use muscle anatomy pics as reference (no skin)
Thanks for the critique, and taken into account what you mentioned, and the reference pics, here's what I produced from it..

Those are considerably better. Still a couple of odd spots, most of which would probably be fixed if you were to fully color and shade, but I wouldn't be surprised to see arms like those at the local gym. The top right one looks the most realistic to me.

Yeah I'll just have to do some color ones it seems.

these are soooo much better. you are really studying your anatomy and it shows congrats,
and the faces on the girls in the last piece are at least diferent enough from most of your anime faces.
cant wait to see more.

Thanks. in RL.. busy, busy.. =/ not a lot of time to draw lately -_-; Perhaps I'll get time to post more later.

Yeah, on the other ones I would see some anime, and be like "oh that's pretty cool. I’ll try to imitate that style, but with my own characters", but I put it behind me and just started sketching to see what I sketched like after looking at the anatomy stuff. My goal was go for something semi-realistic, but still fairly simple for sprite animation purposes, because I do some hobby 2D game making in Multimedia Fusion. Meh... here I go writing books again... >.>;
cant wait to see more.
Keep scrolling down.
raw scan, also in the process of adding color.
Nice work on the last one.
that faces are cool too, and ...dare I say it 0_0.. you're developing your own style :O
wow everything is starting come along great.
only critique i can give is that in all your pieces the char bases seem a bit to squatty in the body...almost like your not quite letting go.
altho that could just be your style..
but your knolage of anatomy, gravity and weight is very dead on the mark
plus your char sheets are very interesting and well devolved
great stuff
err, let me clarifie the "squaty"
When doing illusionist manga and illustration the key is knowing what to exaggerate from real life anatomy.
Like hips torsos and necks.
One old school rule for illustrating manga was the body types and head size showed the age of the char.
a big head, small neck and squatty body was rules of thumbs when drawling child like figues,
wile sharper jaws, longer necks and stretched out torso and hit would show adult.
this was done because when drawling allot of angles close ups and distorted views. it would be easy for the reader to instantly identify the char,age , motion, feeling and also size, with out having somthing of revalence to come pare it to/
(like when you have to show some one as adult or child like when there is nothing big or small on the picture to compare it to....basically able to show size on a plane back ground and have it easily identified and reconized as that char being of a certain age)

Hmm... I guess I don't want to make them too "long"... It might be my style.. 0.0!
Well how old do you think they are? I usually shoot for late teen or early twenties.
- The guy with the leaf in his hat, I was going for about 20-22 y/o
- The sketches of the girl with the pigtails I was going for barely legal
- And the guy with the braids and the girl next to him I was shooting for 20-21 y/o
