I really hate how the news is covering this. Everyone's acting like this is exciting or something.
"OH, LOOK, THEY'RE CARRYING OUT ANOTHER BODY, HOW MANY DOES THAT MAKE? WOW, THAT'S UH, THAT'S A BIG WASTE OF LIFE FOR SURE, LET'S RE-WATCH THE VIDEO FOOTAGE AGAIN."
Things like this just make you scared that something will happen at your school.

Its fucking scary man.
VT is like 35 minuets away from me, I know quite a few people who go there.
I heard it is the worst shoot out in American History. Right next to me.
It seems that Jack Thomson is talking about the shooting on Fox News.

Fuck you for not knowing a thing about law inforcement.
Since these kinds of shootings are done by people whose GOAL is to kill, rather than negotiate, the police are supposed to try and kill the gunman as quick as possible. But I'm seeing all kinds of footage and eye witness accounts on the news and the police did jackshit for 2 hours, they just sat behind trees or behind cars like fucking cowards. This gave the gunman time to kill as many people as he did.
Again, fuck you for knowing shit about law inforcement.
People are dead and you are already pointing blame when you weren't there and are only getting your facts from tv channels and the internet. You have no fucking clue what went into the decisions of the commanding officers in charge. They might not have been properly equiped. They might not have known how many shooters or where exactly the shooter was.
In short, fuck you.

Indeed, not spree killers. They might have different wording in their rationalising, but I would think most fall under the category of, "I really really hate (some aspect of) the world, and I want to die," although some, like Andrew Cunanan, really liked to kill, but still hate the world and want to die. Spree killers are people who snap, be it from internal turmoil or external abuse. Serial killers are normally totally fucked in the head, like killing, and are sociopaths.

This really is shocking, and in a depressing way both for the students and society in general. To be killed in a situation like this; to learn a friend or member of your family has died in a school shooting; to have to watch one of your classmates get shot............the pain is horrific.
Then, on top of this, everyone will blame someone else, but not the shooter himself for his evil deeds; he was the killer, he was the one who made the decision, it is his fault; not music, not video games, it is him. Unless if you include the idea of other people tormenting or ignoring him, he is the villain, not the unlucky one. Those unlucky are the ones who have to live with the pain of the deaths on this day in Virginia Tech.

Oh god; whats he saying now? Get ready for the evil blame game to begin.
Far away, across the field, the tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees, to hear the softly spoken magic spells.......

You know so little about law Enforcement that you spell it law "inforcement"
People are dead and you are already pointing blame when you weren't there and are only getting your facts from tv channels and the internet.
And where are you getting YOUR facts? Because last time I checked the police around the US were specifically told to respond more rapidly and decisively to these sorts of situations in order to avoid another Columbine.
Just sitting outside of the school while the shooter has time to round up victims makes no sense because you can't negotiate with people whose goal is to kill as many people as possible and kill themselves. Therefore the police are now taught to end the situation as quickly as possible, regardless if SWAT has time to get there or not.
You have no fucking clue what went into the decisions of the commanding officers in charge. They might not have been properly equiped.
All police officers have bullet proof vests as well as assault rifles in their squad cars. They were equipped. And even then, if they weren't they are still supposed to respond as rapidly as possible, because procrastination is what causes the massive amount of death because the gunman can have free reign to kill as many people as possible while the cops are twiddling their thumbs.
They might not have known how many shooters or where exactly the shooter was.
Um thats why they should follow the sound of the gun shots dumb ass. And even if they didn't know where the shooter was, they should still have swept the campus as quickly as possible.

I don't have any more than you and that's my point. You are retartedly throwing blame around on gun companies and now the police. You know so little, pretend to know so much and the first thing you can even say in response to me is that I spelled inforcement wrong (argument priorities a little skewed).
Neither one of us know went into the decisions made and untill an official report comes out you can't say they did anything wrong because we don't know.
The only fact I can say with 100% assurance is that police have more than school shootings to worry about, so their training can't 100% be about school shootings. Is it possible they weren't entirely to blame? Yes. Do they share some of it? Yes. How much? Couldn't say.
Let me tell you a story.
A man and a wife went out to get groceries. They came home to find all of their possesions had been stolen. The man had left the door unlocked so the wife asked him why he had done something so foolish. The neighbors also thought the man was particularly stupid for leaving the door to his house open. And the police also asked, why didn't you lock up you house?
His only response was: "Why is it that I am being blamed, when I was not the one who stole my possessions?"
Overall it's a damn shame what happened. I mean i first got wind of it in school and rush home to find out if it was true as soon as I got out.

Wtf are you talking about? I didn't throw any blame on gun companies, I was actually making the case that this doesn't have to do with guns. And I'm not blaming the police either, I'm just criticizing them for not responding as well as they should have.
Neither one of us know went into the decisions made and untill an official report comes out you can't say they did anything wrong because we don't know.
And the official report will of course admonish the police if they did in fact react inappropriately. Because nobody is going to throw the blame around at the police, that's not the point. The police aren't the ones who are responsible, it's just that they could have and should have reacted differently.
Let me tell you a story... blah blah blah
Dumbest fucking story ever.
Police have the JOB of serving and protecting, therefore they can rightfully be criticized if they don't do their job correctly. If the police are now taught to immediately attempt to neutralize a gunman, and they didn't attempt this but rather posted up in defensive positions while students were killed (like what happened in Columbine) then something needs to be done about that.

I don`t live to far from Blacksburg, so all the teachers were running around calling people trying to figure what was going on. All the local news stations are talking about it. This is sad.

Same here, my student teacher was crying, she goes to VT, she said her friends were around the area that got most of the shooting or something.
I guess it's good she goes to my high school during the day.
I can only imagine what is going through the heads of the parents who had to force their children to go to school. Obvoulsy they were not affected but damn, that has got to be embarrassing. But no disrespect for the people though.

Lets leave the gun politics in the politics forum. As much as I would like to express my pro-gun feelings (self-defense,) there is a different board for this.
