It happens in countries with different gun laws, too. Motor accidents cause more fatalities here than guns do, IIRC. It's the 'moron with gun' you should be angry at. Not a body of government.

I've heard a couple stupid anagrams of the guys name, like 'HI! I chose gun!' which isn't even correct because it's missing a 'u.' Other than that, no jokes yet. At least not any good ones.

I agree that people on campus should be able to bear firearms (staff). The dawson shooting last October(?) could have been prevented if campus guards could have done more. In situations like this... it is appropriate. In a way I think both Canada and America need looser yet tighter gun laws.
Canada doesn't have the same gun problems or crime rate that America does, so obviously America is in need to review gun laws more. As the owner of 4 guns (well, one being my remmington, others being my parents).

I agree almost in full with what you are saying; however, this is the bit that's got me and I don't feel has been or could be mentioned enough: what about the environment that raised this person? It is true that some personality is hereditary. It is true that he refused help, but there had to have been something social in the environment to tip him towards this kind of action. I'm not saying it was video games, even if they are part of the cause. What about the people around him? His parents? The kids who he interacted with in high school, elementary?
Obviously, you can't blame them entirely for him bring a gun to school and shooting people, but I do feel that there is something wrong with our society that we are creating people like this, or at least socially pushing them towards this kind of behavour.
We don't know why he did it yet, but I have a feeling that this runs much deeper into his past than what we see on the surface. While this explosion of hate from him appears to be the biggest problem, and while we will all focus on what the government should do, or what the school should do, or what the police should do, I think the real problem that needs to be solved is somewhere much closer to home in the way each of us interacts with each other.
That and society presents pretty fucked up models that succeptable people fall into, a lot.

Some ass hole just posted 2 flashes (had nothign to do with the title which had somethign to do with the school). Both got blammed extremely fast for his comments about the victims and how they should burn in hell... How can anyone be such a fuckwad?
God bless those who were killed and may the student who killed everyone suffer greatly in the pits of hell.

Oh shush, there have been quite a few school shootings in your country as well, and especially in your Province of Quebec.
Educate yourself:
The École Polytechnique Massacre in which 14 people were killed.
The Concordia University Massacre in which 4 people were killed.
The Dawson College shooting in which 2 people were killed and a bunch critically wounded.
Then theres the school shootings in other western countries such as:
The Erfert Shooting in which 18 people were killed.
The Dunblane Massacre in Scotland in which 17 people were killed.
I could go on...
Some of these shootings were worse than Columbine, but have you ever even heard about any of them? Probably not, because people like you in your hypocritical society just love to focus all of your attention on the US. You like to ignore your own problems, and overemphasize the bad in the US to further your inferiority complex and boost your irrational political bias.
So maybe you should focus on your own gun problems considering Montreal has been a huge gun violence hotspot, even by American standards. Maybe look inwards at your own society and culture instead of sticking your snooty French Canadian nose in our business.

Nothing involved in this should be treated with respect except the people who died and those who were actually on VT campus. Things like this are just wrong to say. This is a time of mourning for others, not being a dick. And i dont care if its sarcasm.

Yodd why don't you lurk a bit, or go to this thread in which I systematically proved that that you, and everyone else who blame this on gun laws are wrong.
I know what you're trying to do, so just shush and learn something instead of trying desperately to disagree with me as hard as you can at the expense of your own knowledge.

Who knows? The backgrounds of people that 'snap' and do these sorts of things is so varied that it's not something you can simply profile.
These things do happen, and always have happened. In Bath, Ohio a man blew up a schoolhouse, killing loads of kids in 1927, just to point out a single example of one of the many, many, many tragedies that history forgets. It may sound 'nutty' but the more people we cram on this planet, the more likely we are to have people amongst us with the propensity to snap, and also more people in the vicinity to be potential victims.

Your pathetic, all you do is look for any pathetic excuse to flame me. As I even so stated "I think America and Canada should loosen gun laws, especially for workers of jobs like this" (summarized). I also said they need to loosen guns, and make them more tight.
I know what you're trying to do. Going to pointless flames to try and actually win a debate at some point, even one where I mostly AGREE with you in which I said in my post that I AGREE. All that to make you look good. Keep the alter-ego, have tons of fun laughing at it.

Maus for the love of God... please do something about the intentional flame provocation from Yodd and Racist Bassist. They aren't even talking about the issue, they just resorted entire posts to attack me personally.
Mod intervention would be nice so I don't get banned 10 posts from now for simply replying to them.
