Looking at his facebook I notice two things: 1. He seemed like an ok guy. He had friends and a sense of humor.
Also, he's got some serious firepower. He's got some very fancy looking SMG's and rifles. If it's true that all he used was pistols, then I wonder why he didn't use one of his many other, more lethal weapons.

this made me physically ill when i heard about it. but not because of the shooting, because of the apathy of students at the university. in time the report mentioned that some students didn't even know what was going on, the campus was shut down after the second round began, and only an email had been sent to students. the school caused a lot of chaos in only using a loud speaker on effected buildings. what if there were other shooters?

either way, i can't stand hearing about shootings at schools. yes, these are college students, but they are still very vulnerable and they are supposed to be SAFE. i mean, it bothers me enough when schools have to put up emergency phones in school parks and such incase you are attacked walking alone.

No, thats the thing. He probably did use the SMGs but the people in the media who don't understand it probably got it confused because they can be considered "machine pistols" because they shoot pistol cartridges.

My stepsister is an engineering student at Tech. Fortunately, she was coming back from a concert this weekend and missed her Monday classes.

Those families are in our hearts tonight, though. We got lucky and our Hokie is safe; theirs are not.

According to them Virginia gun laws are the most liberal (with a few other states).

Canada and America are the only two countries that seemingly get these attacks. And to those (like cellardoor6) who blame it on music. Why doesn't this happen in Germany than?

There is no good reason why it happens, but I remember that the kids in columbine got the guns off the internet, and were able to buy bullets at a local K-mart. This is the Case in both Canada and America. If both countries want to prevent incidents like this, gun laws need to be taken more serious.

I don't think they said that with certainty, and even if they did, where are you getting your info from? They haven't even confirmed a specific shooter yet, have they? Everyone's just assuming it's some guy.

I think they interviewed a girl who faked dead who claimed the shooter had both a hand gun and a black rifle. So it was not two pistols.

However she did also admit to not knowing anything about guns, so I am still not convinced the full story has been told on any news station yet.

What happened is no joke. 33 dead, most deadly shooting you get the idea.
