So I end up pissing 1000 Wii points (= to 10 dollars) on Star Fox 64 for my Nintendo Wii, and I have to use the gay "classic controller" over the old school N64 one. put i this way, on n64 i had every medal but the water level's, and I was all around nasty. Now with this:
They don't tell you which buttons what, so it took me 3 levels to get Rob 64's crate button right, and I'm too busy ejaculating my bomb payload instead of my damn lazers. I end up beating cornerria the hard way, then I beat sector Y, then Katrina, then Solar, then I beat Macbeth using the train locks (the hard way), sure enough we got to Area 6 where my team die IMMEDIATELY and I narrowly beat the boss, losing a wing, thus my power ups.
Normally, I'd scoff at this, but not with this retard controller, in comes Venom. This is my first try at Star wolf with no wing men, no power ups. 9 lives like a cat, and I wiped out, cursing every step. Nothing like trying to how them crash into the pillars to do my firty work, since they can somehow fly at a higher altitude than me, right? No, and Barrel Rolls fails as they prevent you from performing somersaults, and then the bombs do nothing. Yes, bombs don't hurt bosses.
So fuck you Star Fox 64, I'm glad my friends didn't see me get raped on the wii. truth be told i'm playing on my 64 right now and I'm amazingly doing better with the old ass controller. Confidence, or comfort?
The classic controller is awful. You know why the NES controller looks different from N64 controller? Because the games require different button configurations. There is no universal button placement for all these games.
Super Mario World is alright... But it's hard to doing a running spin jump...
I agree much playing Star Fox on the N64 is much easier comparing to the wii. The fucking controls piss the shit out of me.

I remember that I could barely beat starwolf with the original controller(the mechanically modified version of him atleast), but if you couldn't beat him, sure as hell you won't kill the crazy brain of Andross.

i use the gamecube controller for it and any game that needs a classic controller...much easier

Well than cowboy the fuck up and learn how to make due with it. Christ, step up to the fucking challenge and try to master it.
I mean, if you bought a game just for the fact that you can beat it easily, than where's the enjoyment. Don't think of the different controller configuration as a pain in the ass, think of it as an awesome way to master a game differently.
I was awesome at Marvel vs. Capcom 2 at the arcades, and it took some bit for me to master it on the hard-as-fuck-to-use Dreamcast controller, but hell I did it.

The controller for GC (which classic controller was modeled after) sucks compared to good old n64 one. Seriously, it still feels awkward playing with it, even after all these years.
It's not so much the shape, it's that damn thumb stick (or whatever you call it), it's just too fucking horrible.

There should be some gadgets that can make it posible to do that. I know there are like that for the PC. So there has to be for GC (since it have identical plugs as the wii). Try googling it.
The thumbstick for my n64 has crumbled, that was the only flaw with n64 controller.
Yeah man it isn't so bad plus yeah I'm preety sure every game you get with wii points requires the classical controller if not all then most of them I know that and I don't even own a Wii I just play it at my friend's house. Plus I like the design of the classical controller, it reminds me somewhat of the S.N.E.S. (Super Nintendo Entertainment system for those of you who were born in the late 90s) the only diffrence is the control sticks plus like I said before it probably not that bad besides it only cost you 10 bucks for the game so just play it, get better, and have fun with it. Games are fun when they are challenging. And I know adapting to new controlers can be difficult when I went to my friend's house, I had to remember the wii controls (for red steel) the S.N.E.S. controls (like super mario allstars) and the gamecube controls (resident evil) and the N64 controls (super smash bros.) and it wasn't easy but I had fun. Then again who wouldn't have fun playing 4 consoles in a day lol. Anyways just have fun with it =D

Gamecube controller, problem solved. I'm playing it with the gcn pad, man I forgot how awesome this game is. I foolishly traded it in along with mischief makers. The rumble was cool, but I can live without it. No control problems for me. I don't see the classic controller as a necessity.
I can't wait for them to get some real bangers on the VC, like Legend of the Mystical Ninja, Blast Corps, Actraiser, TMNT 3 Manhattan Project, Landstalker, Contra Hard Corps, Jungle Strike, Formula One Built-To-Win!, etc.
