I skate and the only tip I can give is practice make perfect.
DOG QUIT SKA8TING if the board slips on you then you mite as well become a poser
goto skateboardcity.com, they have a lot of help and skating tips for many tricks
Put your weight forward when you do it, don't lean back.
Thanks guys I really appreciate the support

Yeah, basically what he said. Although if it's moving out in front of you, make sure that you jump slightly forward to land square on it again. If it's always behind you, make it so that you don't jump forward. If it's movin to the side, make sure that you're sliding you foot straight and not to one of the sides.
There are alot of things that can cause a board to drift out from under your feet, you just have to be able to identify them, and thinking of how you can fix it becomes alot easier.
Slam your head into the pavement, as hard as possible.

Now kids, can you tell me what he did wronge with his post?
That's right, he acted like a douche, and didn't relate to the thread. And what does Mr. Faced do when stupid people like this person do that? THAT'S right, he corrects them.
You sir, obviouslly have no talent or skill at skateboarding, otherwise you wouldn't be all pissy about him making this post, asking a simple question. And if you DO skateboard, then you should be glad that you have his support in the community because the more people that do it, the more it becomes viewed as a normal and acceptable thing. So please sir, next time you have a thought, just let it go. You would be doing all of us a great favor.
You're not a skater if you can't ollie while rolling. Thats just damn pathetic.
And stop typing sk8 please, I don't think any mispelled "IM" typing thing pisses me off more than "sk8". Just type skate.
Get decent at skating, THEN call yourself a "sk8er".
I practiced skating all on my own for years. You can't let people teach you how to do tricks. Where my friend told me to put my feet to do a 360 flip was totally different from where I was comfortable doing it. And eventually I learned it my way. Same with all of the flip tricks i've learned.
Teach yourself and you'll eventually progress. It can't happen over night.
And get cheap ass k-mart boards to start on, so you can just fuck around with them and its not a big deal if they break.
good luck.

I would have had absolutely no problem with that if he didn't call himself a "sk8r". And i gave him some advice after that.
I just can't stand posers.
Because it's cool to use numbers in place of letters!
Blacklabel boards are really flat that might be your problem, but I doubt it. Like the other guy said make sure your balanced out and leaning to the direction you're moving.

Yeah. I can do some decent tricks too and I don't even call myself a skater at all.
bmx=sex
I skate a lot during the summer (we have a local skate park), here are a few tips I got from my friends who skate:
-When going down ramps be sure to bend your knees, it helps a LOT.
-Also bend your knees when just skating on ground, it helps balance.
-Ollies start out hard to do while rolling, but as they always say, practice makes perfect.
-WEAR A DAMN HELMET! (nearly saved my life once when I was going down the half pipe)
-Watch out for thugs in skate parks, teens in my local skate park have been known to bring drugs, in fact a few years ago a thug pulled out a knife and they had to call the cops.
-Don't be scared to go down a half pipe, put all your weight forward and it'll work.
hope I helped.
Let's all catch thumbtacks on our bare eyes!
Black Label! :D Good choice!
Anyway, sounds like you might not be doing it right if that's what is happening... But however, start off little by little as far as speed when moving, and just get faster. Don't shift your weight too much to the back, or the tail will slide like it's doing to you. Try to remain over the board at all times.
Stop stop i've been skating for 5 years i know how to do this np.
1. place pop (back) foot on the tip of the back lip of the board.
2. center your other foot in the middle of the board with your big toe facing the corner screw.
3. lean back a little and smack the tail to the ground.
4. right after you smack the tail to the ground slide you foot forward by leaning your front foot off of the heal and pushing forward while letting your foot up.
5. lean forward to keep it back balenced
6. get ready for the landing and bend you legs to lessin the impact.
their ya go.
get skate shoes, vans are gay (i know thts what u got)
clear your mind and just do it. practice practice practice!
Your supposed to kick your back foot back and your frony foot up which is an ollie when you land sorta squat and you'll be perfect.
Everything...by me.

So your telling him to stop doing a hobby he enjoys because you think it's just a fad? Seems a little unreasonable don't you think?
My advice with ollies is to not worry about them for a while, just really get the hang of cruising around, keeping your weight good and centered. Also try dropping off stuff like ledges without ollieing, this can give you a good feel for what landings are like and how to bend your knees properly.
I'm not going to tell you how to ollie though, there are dozens of tutorials all over the web and I'd just be repeating one of them.
Good luck! It's a right laugh when you get the hang of it.
Maybe get better grip tape. Your might be a little too smooth.
Try it while you're moving, sometimes momentum can give you a little help

Shut your face.
It's fun, and not supposed to be taken seriously.
dude dont get into skating if ur not gona be serious about it and dont just like buy boards to think there cool or not. just get a nice blank deck, a pair of krux trucks, and the wheels and bearings dont matter
and start trying stuf
curb,
two stair,
four stair,
six stair,
and so on
and just like get someone to skate with all the time because its hard and sometimes boring skating by urself

What is a good reason why skateboarding should be taken seriously?
It's just a fun thing to do when you're hanging out with friends, or even alone.
If you take it seriously it won't be fun.
