New York City council has just banned people from wearing socks with their sandals.
New York City council passed a bill today with broad ranged support to ban the wearing of socks with sandals on city streets. With the temperatures rising to the mid thirties and low forties more and more New Yorks have been breaking out their sandals and birkenstocks. However it still seems too cold for many of them to be willing to go barefoot, so they are wearing socks too. This is one of fashion's great faux-pauxs.
Councilman Eric Gioia stated "Its about time that the city recognized the pandemic spreading across our city. Everywhere I look now I see people wearing socks with sandals. It looks ridiculas and hurts our city's imagine as a fashion and trend capital. Listen people if its too cold to wear sandals without socks you should be wearing shoes."
However Councilwoman Helen Sears, one of the few dissenting voices in the city's council told reporters that "this bill goes too far. If citizens want to wear socks they should have the freedom to do so. This city is starting to get out of hand, banning first trans-fats, which is vital to our health. This ban however servers no real purpose. It is a vanity law. Just because it offends a few high society types does not give us the right to ban it."
Those wishing to comment on this Bill are asked to contact their New York City representatives. Your councilor can be found at http://www.nyccouncil.info/constituent/.

You know what really makes it so obvious that your post is faked and a complete waste of time? You spelled "ridiculous" incorrectly, which no news reporter should ever be lazy enough to do.

All I can say is it's about damn time someone stood up and did what was right! This sort of thing is a threat to our way of life. I'm glad NY has the stones to do what's necessary!
Tis better to sit in silence and be presumed a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

Bull-shit.
NCY is democratic, nobody would do this or all sorts of people would get involved. Its just proving the city is filled with shallow people- thats not my opinion though, as this is obviosuly fake.

;
I'm now curious, Is it still legal to wear your socks over your sandals?
After all, If your wearing a nice heavy pair of wool socks over your sandals, it would be hard to tell.
You could just be out in your sock feet after all.

I was just about to call you out, JoS, but then I read this:
Researchers from the Sierra Nevada Accounting & Finance University have completed as survey with shocking results. According to the survey, 62% of Americans believe a story is actual news when it is italicized, despite lack of evidence to the contrary.
[Story continues below advertisement]
Canadians followed close behind at 60%. Of the 10 nationalities tested, Norwegians fared the best, at only 25 %.
I've also heard rumors that they are planning to ban plaid and stripes together, too.
So often times it happens, that we live our lives in chains, and we never even know we had the key...

That has been illegal around here for years... I thought it was illegal everywhere except Scotland.

Trans fats
Plural! The proper sentence would have been:
This city is starting to get out of hand, first banning trans-fats, which are vital to our health.
Even then thats a retarded statement!

Eh?? That's the most pointless thing I've ever heard of. Unless some state has called a bill making it illegal to shot themself in the foot.

Its actually not that bad. Especially the stuff thats made with the same kind of lining as sausages, rather than an actual sheeps stomach.
Consider the fact that bugs are eaten and considered a tasty treat in a few places!
Mmmm, grasshopper!
