Uh.
I never played the first so..
Yeah.
Do yourself a favor and buy it. Also, it's a spiritual successor, not actually Demon's Souls 2.

The trailer was blacked out on the stream, but someone recorded it. This looks exactly like Demon's Souls. I need this game.

Ohh right.
Meh, I don't doubt Demons' Souls had a great story and all that, but I (raises flame sheild) would never play a game that's hard for the sake of being hard.
If anything, you guys + Demons' Souls general threads over on /v/ have done nothing but put me off the game.

It's not 'hard for the sake of being hard' :s It's hard because there hasn't been a game like this since the Kings Field games, and let's face it who the fuck played them that doesn't live in Japan?
It isn't dumbed down for the masses like most mainstream games, therefore when someone who regularly plays Action RPGs plays DS they are overwhelmed at how hard you have to fight to stay alive, it's brilliant.
If anything, you guys + Demons' Souls general threads over on /v/ have done nothing but put me off the game.
You didn't have to read them..
Watch gameplay footage, then see if it's up your alley, if so rent it, if you can't get enough of it after that, buy it. Simple.

Demon's Souls had almost no story at all. It wasn't hard, it just required you pay attention. It's hard at first, but it's not unfair.

I've no interest in any of those hurr durr it's hard so it must be good games.
I haven't play Demons' Souls so I can't comment on that, but I tried Monster Hunter after hearing similar sort of praise, and it was just awkward to control and full of grinding.

I agree. I imagine that there's some masochistic glee that occurs during the game, but if I wanted to get kicked in the nuts for 30 hours, I'll get a Dominatrix

Obviously not the game for you then, if you kept playing beyond the first few hours you'd know every MH game is extremely deep, and fucking fun if you play it properly.

Any game where you have to fight more with the controls and camera than you do the enemies is automatically shit. No excuses, it's fundamentally broken. Never mind that grinding is also a mortal sin and is never acceptable as it's basically the exact opposite of fun.

Never had this problem, and I've been playing MH games on and off for around 5 years..

Oh come on, the controls are clunky as shit, and the PSP hardly lends itself to great camera control.
Except, it's not, you just don't like it.

It really isn't hard, you just have to pay attention and learn from your mistakes. Also, grinding isn't necessary, as you can get a decent amount of souls just by going through the level. If you're really that concerned about it being too hard, play as a royal. That's like activating easy mode.

I'm just saying I've never had a problem with it, and considering how large MH's fanbase is in Japan and America (..mostly Japan obviously) it seems many others don't as well.
You're honestly telling me you ENJOY doing the same thing over and over again?
You're honestly telling me you can't see why in a game called Monster Hunter, you hunt monsters?
It's more complex than that anyway, but you wouldn't know, because you didn't give it a chance, MH games are notorious for being a bit slow at the start with more of a difficulty spike compared to other games when you fight a proper Wyvern for the first time.

Well said good sir, my thoughts exactly, DS is original.
I was planning on starting a new game too if anyone wants to join me.
I might do seeing as my original 50 hour save is gone after my PS3 died again.

Random drops and item gathering have been a staple of many varying game genres since gaming began, so obviously they're doing something right for them to still be around, cry about it.

Hey I got nothing better to do, ok that's a lie but it's amusing seeing you come back with the same retorts and complaining about anything original.

Should we keep lives and game overs that force you to start from the very beginning just because they were there at the start of gaming, too? They're shit mechanics that should have long been phased out. You should only have to do the same thing over and over if it's fun. You shouldn't be FORCED to do it just because you need an item that only drops 5% of the time. Anything forcing the player to do something they don't want to do is criminal.

Original? You JUST defended bullshit random drops and fetch quests by claiming the fact that they're the very opposite of original.

Does anybody still go on Playstation Home?
I've been on it lately and some of the most popular areas all seem to have gone pretty quite recently (i'm using the European version)

I didn't say they're still around JUST because they're ancient, I said they're still around because certain developers are improving upon them and doing something right with them, as in they are good and don't become flaws in the gameplay.
You shouldn't be FORCED to do it just because you need an item that only drops 5% of the time. Anything forcing the player to do something they don't want to do is criminal.
You're not forced to do it, if you actually play the game you'll realise that you don't have to complete every quest in each ranking to unlock the next set, only a select few which includes usually only 1 or 2 of the easier fetch quests, where the drop rates are intentionally modified to increase your chance of success.
Original? You JUST defended bullshit random drops and fetch quests by claiming the fact that they're the very opposite of original.
Actually by that I was referring to Demons Souls, not Monster Hunter and it's loot system.

Yeah, I think that's enough lols and this's. While on the subject of PS Home, I said I had no intentions to try it out and I still think the same. Why bother with that when I've been delaying Assassin's Creed II on PS3 enough times already?

I checked out Home when it was first released, but I shortly after got a new hard drive for my ps3 and didn't feel like redownloading it. Do you still have to sit and download each room individually?
Don't really have any intentions of downloading it again, there just wasn't anything to it that seemed all that interesting.
Half hour download just to wait in line to play bowling? PFFT I SAY

It's a shame that 99% of the best ideas always fall through, like Home.
Ah well, was a fun gimmick for a while at least.
