Nope.

Okay maybe.

It's always best not to ask to join. Waste of a post and there is a chance you won't commit to joining whatever club. I know from experience. I should really post on at least 5 other crews but I got bored.

I think what he's trying to say is that online games are everywhere. The single player for most games have been rushed in order to accommodate the multiplayer.

Imagine my face when I heard KotOR 3 was becoming a MMO.

Exactly.

FPS games in particular have really suffered due to it.

I've noticed this for a while now. My first experience with a game having horrible single player to accommodate the multiplayer is Metroid Prime Hunters. The single player mode was a joke and multiplayer wasn't much better. I was severely disappointed in Nintendo. Luckily I've not come across another game alike yet but I did hear that Modern Warfare 2's campaign mode was short as hell.

Well if you'd just said it like that I would have understood, the way you described it you seemed like you wanted all games with multiplayer to have a story like the campaign.

Anyway, I agree with you, shoehorned in multiplayer ftl.

No, all mutliplayer is shit. Just if it doesn't detract from the single player I can completely ignore it and leave it to appease the idiots who like that sort of thing.

Obviously this doesn't apply to fighting games or racing games and shit like that, where multiplayer is the same as single player anyway.

Wut. Fighting games online are inferior to the offline experience.. That also goes to say with Racing games as well.. I'm talking competitiveness, lag / input delay, etc.

That's technical problems, though, not problems with the concept itself.

Bad Company 2 seems to be continuing the age-old Battlefield tradition of everyone running to the planes/helicopters and subsequently crashing.

So, why do you care about that. Ground war is so much better then flying the planes or anything like that. Actually in Battlefield 2, everyone could fly with skill.

It's because if used correctly, air vehicles can change the tide of a battle. Unfortunately, nobody seems to be able to use them. I swear to God, I've seen choppers start to take off, and then fly straight into a cliff.

Actually in Battlefield 2, everyone could fly with skill.

I remember it being pretty bad. Especially with the choppers just after the game launched. Nobody had a clue how to fly them. But 1942 was the worst. You'd always get around 5 guys waiting on the aircraft carrier waiting for a new plane to spawn.

2142 wasn't as bad. The futuristic Harrier thingies were pretty easy to control.

I agree whole-heartedly with that sentiment. If you're going to do that, just be like MAG or Warhawk and only multiplayer.

Before I talk, let me preface my comments by saying that I'm the #1 person who supports games like Bioshock that have a deep, intellectual script that is much more than "here's why you should be killing those guys".

But on multiplayer overall, sometimes I just want to have fun. It is a video game after all. I don't need a story to explain why I'm there, or "different" enemies to fight. I just want to have fun and shoot stuff. It's like going to see any Jason Statham movie - you know the plot is going to be paper-thin, but you see it because you like explosions and ass-kicking and shoot-outs.

Obviously it DOES apply to RTS games, as the greatest RTS game of all time, "The Lost World: Jurassic Park - Chaos Island", doesn't have any multiplayer.

Wrong Lost World, bro.

although that screen obviously has cheats on, since half of those dinosaurs aren't in that level, and even if they were, they'd attack each other and the hunters automatically, since they're white-collar ones, which means they're wild and will attack both you and the hunters.

Your borderline mental obsession with Jurassic Park makes me wonder if you've ever been told by your family to sit in a leather chair and talk to a psychiatrist.

also I played Bioshock 2 for a good 2 and a half hours today, then went to save, only to find I couldn't, because I hadn't made a games for windows live account, I made one, then it told me there was an error, and I lost my progress.

FUCK YOU MICROSOFT YOU FUCKING CUNTS. YOUR SHITTY FUCKING SERVICES ARE SHITE AND ARE NOT FUCKING NEEDED.

Yes I am annoyed. I can't be arsed to play through the beginning again...give it a day or two.

Seriously, fuck Microsoft, this is exactly why so many games are being pirated.

Euugh, I can't play until I get back this weekend, but I'm not looking forward to dealing with that. It's such bullshit. Hopefully there'll be a crack to be able to save normally sooner rather than later.

To be fair, it was released in 1997, and internet multiplayer (the only feasible way to play an RTS) wasn't big around that time.

MAG skin and theme at pureHMV, if you've got £50 worth of reward points.

Oh wow, you'd be stupid to miss out on that.

T-shirts cost £250 worth.

I got Banjo-Kazooie as a download on the 360 for £50 worth, though, and that's way better than a skin.
