That's the max... even on PC.

Oh, and the DS version has leaning. Even the PC doesn't have leaning.

And the PC version of CoD4 had 64 right?

I have heard the maps are too big even 18 players in MW2. Any truth behind that?

Yeah, but servers with 64 players were generally complete clusterfucks.

MW2 fever is even more annoying in real life. Hearing everyone talk about the game confirms that the majority of the people buying the game know nothing other than 'shooting things is fun.' There was an article in my school's paper glorifying the game to no end, oftentimes with factually incorrect statements. For instance, did you guys know that Call of Duty 6 (I knew it wasn't going to be pretty when COD6 was in the title) is the first game to feature perks?

I've found I really can't enjoy a single article in any issue of my school paper. If it's about something that interests me, I end up getting annoyed by the lack of knowledge of the writer. If it's boring, I get bored.

I should get my copy of MW2 tomorrow. I'll probably play it before Borderlands, Dragon Age, or Demon's Souls, since it will apparently only take me about 5 hours. At this point, I can't help but play the game with a shit-covered filter. Activision and Infinity Ward's actions and the obnoxious mainstream market have really soured my opinion of the game before ever playing it. Sad that it will be the best-selling game this year.

Do me a favour and scan that, then put it on /v/.

Sad that it will be the best-selling game this year.

I knew it was a straight console port for PC but come on, seeing screenshots of the PC game in action is taking the piss. Using a bar system for ping (200MS is full, trying to play most FPS games online with that type of ping is like playing back in 1998).

Currently metacritic..or rather last time I checked. It has 96. That's the same as Uncharted 2.

I left it in my locker today. I'll bring it home tomorrow. They used a Gamespot E3 article as their source material and interviewed some kid at my school who is apparently a "COD Veteran" that is super-excited for the game.

That particular writer really didn't have a good paper though. Her other article was on Social Networks. It began something like this:

First there was mail carried by horses, trains, and boats.
Then the nerds said "Let there be internet."

The rest of the article was about Myspace, facebook, and twitter. It was pretty terrible.

Do you play games to be bored? Or do you play games to have fun?

obnoxious mainstream market have really soured my opinion of the game before ever playing it.

Thats a sad attitude to have as well. Why should hype ruin an experience for you?
It just seems snobby. As though - and this isn't exclusively to you, but everyone whining about MW2 - by disliking the game you're somehow better and more devoted to the gaming industry... elitism basically.

Luckily, I haven't heard anything about it. Not even in the hallways. Maybe because I'm surrounded by blacks and drug-dealers, but even my friends aren't "ZOMG COD6 1Z AHSHEM!". Granted, it was released today, so they may have skipped school.

Also, post the scan here too. I doubt I'll be on when you are, and I'll probably end up missing the /v/ thread.

Activision and Infinity Ward's actions and the obnoxious mainstream market have really soured my opinion of the game before ever playing it.

Maybe it's just a social experiment? Maybe in a few weeks Activision and Infinity Ward will just come out and say "Hey, we were just fucking with you. This wasn't a game; it was to see how naive the gaming population is. We took away almost everything that made the past games successful and fun to see if we could push a sub-par product with only a name. And it turns out, we were right."

Video games are a new field for most people. They don't understand that just because it has the same name and a number at the end, it doesn't make it good. People are always wary of movies that go beyond 2 or 3 sequels, so why aren't they wary of games that go beyond 2 or 3 sequals?

Sad that it will be the best-selling game this year.

Even sadder is the fact that it will win awards.

Indeed, MW2 has completly consumed my whole community, it dominates discussions at the moment, 90% of people on my freinds list/actual freinds are playing it people in my year are taking days off just to play this game, its horrible.
Also Can I Point out that respawning and connectivity is "terrible on this game" until they fix it i dont think i will enjoy it as much.

Today, the only thing anybody was talking about was Modern warfare 2. Mainly about snowmobiles and about the airport level. The Xbox and PS3 users giggled at Wii'ers all day long. It was great.

That was patched in the 1.02 update apparently, and sure enough, mine synced just now (when it didn't before).

The online isn't working, this isn't cool :-( Not unexpected, but still uncool.
