After a long download of the Bourne game demo I was expecting yet another movie game. I know some of you have already had the demo for a week or two but it's out today over here.
But the demo was great, spent at least an hour messing around on the 3 levels available which is a good sign for an upcoming game. If I spent an hour on those levels then I may play it for a long time on the full game.
However, This could be another Stranglehold. While Stranglehold was fun it just got tedious and repetitive when it got to the point where you got all the powerups. I fear this is what will happen to this game. Once you've done the basics from hand to hand combat, guns and driving then that may just be it. Now with this demo I found the driving quite terrible. Simple yet boring.
But this game would have a certain journey onto mediocre hell AKA the bargain bin without those interactive cutscenes. Fighting that bloke in the plane wasn't tough but it was very easy to slip up. When I finally beaten him he pulled out an uzi and me feeling proud that I beat him didn't expect this. Thus I died. I had felt beaten hard and thought I would have to fight him again. But obviously the game developers knew what gamers hate and when I restarted it went straight back to the part where he pulled the gun on me.
I kept pressing triangle because I knew that was the button I had to press last time but it was a completely different button. Very good I pondered, keeps players watching the screen instead of going elsewhere when they think a long cutscene is about to appear stopping from playing.
I've not seen the Bourne movies nor have I read the books but this follows very closely to the film from the looks of it. From that it's still a movie game, don't expect fireworks. If it's above the average of other movie games that seem to come out the same time as the movie and have nothing to do with the movie because they were being developed way before the movie was in cinemas. Then it could be an 8 out 10. I feel as if care has been taken into this game, it's not been rushed and it feels like an actual game.
Of course what with Haze 4.5, the apparent FPS that will save the PS3 I'm going to be cautious of a game such as the Bourne game. Read the reviews and see what metacritic tells you, then we'll see if it delivers.
Also watched the Trailer to Mirror's Edge. Only seen pictures but this video look incredible.
