OK LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, IT'S TIME TO REP YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC.
Oh but this isn't going to become a simple "I LOVE DRAGONFORCE WOOO!!!!!""""" or "the Beatles are the best ever FUCK YOU" type of thread, no no no, you'll actually have to READ THIS POST (god forbid) to know how YOU must post your props to your favorite band.
1) Image of an album cover/group picture/group insignia at the bottom, nothing else, if no picture, then you didn't read the thread, SO SORRY.
2) Post at least a 5 line testimonial to their GREAT TALENT. Your words only ok? If you get caught with something found on Urban Dictionary or Last.fm, then you didn't read the thread , SO SORRY.
3) Also, avoid bashind music, if you want to kindly say "They're horribly overrated" say WHY you think so at least ok? If there turns out to be an ongoing BATTLE OF THE BANDS, keep it (a) mature and (b) worth going on about. Your reasons can't be "They're awesome," make it more along the lines of "their bass player is incredibly talented which he displays in SOME SONG on SOME ALBUM" ok? If you don't argue kindly and maturly, then you didn't read the thread, SO SORRY.
4) Avoid posting the same band again ok? I'm pretty sure people like The Beatles and Rammenstein will be done if this thread becomes a hit, so please, for the love of god, CHECK to see if you're band is gone already. In case the thread gets huge, i don't think a moderator should care so much, unless it's on the first page of course, then i might understand.

EXAMPLE TIME
Evol Intent: My god this band made me solidify my love for Drum and Bass, beforehand with Concord Dawn and the recently famed Pendulum (to a small scale) i had become hooked.
Yet this band, with song like Edge of the Earth and Street Knowledge, i was pretty much thrown off a cliff into a heaping pile of love for Drum and Bass.
The one criticism i have towards them is they use the same bass sounds ... almost all the time, but they most certainly make up for it with their diversity and continuous in-song-change-ups.
If you have any interest in the genre, make sure this is one of the first people you check out.
The Truth.
but seriously why is this shit still only 3 lines shit used to be 5 lines, HOW MUCH MORE FUCKIN BANDWIDTH WAS THAT TOM, HOW MUCH? Also, hot rosalina porn link ;D
I'll start with Cannibal Corpse.
Now, they are one of the most under-rated bands ever. People keep saying how they don't have skill or don't play music, just noise obviously have never played guitar, bass or drums.
Their finger patterns with the guitar and bass are very complex, meaning it is hard to play them slowly. However, they rip these patterns at ridiculous speeds. The drums, though usually blast beats, are played very fast. The bass player by the way never uses a pick. He uses his fingers, making him that much more talented. Also, the death metal grunt is very difficult to do properly, and actually does require training to do. That is if you don't want your throat to kill after doing it.
People that think it isn't music simply does not know what they are talking about, and are too close minded to recognize their talent.
Here's an example of their skill. Link.

311
These five guys that make up 311 have been around for seventeen years, and their music still continues to evolve. Although they will always be known most for their sounds of the 1990's for when the rock/rap was in full swing, they've managed to stray away from that sound, yet keep the music true to the expanding 311 style. Also, you can make the argument that they are one of the best when it comes to performing live on stage. I've had a firsthand experience with that, and let me say it was one of the best moments of my life watching them for four hours.

Bane
You may not like how his voice sounds, but if you were any intelligent you'd like what he says.
The lyrics bond and repel, with intensity and sincerity blended into one. Every song is written with heart in mind, and not money. Bane is all about message and nothing at all about image. With every word being shouted in front of perfectly harmonized guitars, bass, and drums, it's hard not to think that they're at least okay.
With a "bro-mosh" approach at pits, Bane makes it so that you have a good time at their shows, even if you don't like them. Their crowd presence is amazing, they let you know they notice you, whether it be handing the microphone to you, talking to you after the show, or whatever their approach is.
I never was into Bane as much as I am now until I saw them for the first time. I liked them and I knew most of the words to their songs, but I never imagined I'd have as much fun as I did. I even got my front tooth knocked loose in the middle of their third song and sat down for the rest of their set, and I still had the time of my life. I say, if you listen to hardcore and you don't listen to Bane, you've been missing out. And if you don't listen to hardcore, I say try it out.
Econoline Crush
First breaking through in Canada with their hit song "All That You Are" off their second album, The Devil You Know, Econoline Crush's slight industrial rock/alternative influence has paved their way to fame. With Trevor Hurst, lead singer, at the helm, this band has evolved since making their first CD, Purge, all the way to Brand New History (2001). Although they disbanded shortly after Brand New History, Trevor has been gaining a name for himself in his self-titled band, Hurst. However, in 2007, Econoline Crush has reunited to record a new album, due out within the next two years.
Using synthesizers, two guitars, a drum, a bass, and a strong vocalist, Econoline Crush shows a plethora of emotional range, from the dark sounds of "Wicked", to the ballad-esque melody of "Tomorrow Starts Today".
With such hits as "Sparkle and Shine", "Home", "You Don't Know What It's Like", and "All That You Arem", Econoline Crush is definitely a Canadian band that's worth a listen to.
more than 5 fucking lines. :D
Queen
Yes, these guys deserve to be up here. I never really listened to them untill this last year, aside from Bohemian Rhapsody, but upon doing so I discovered just how much I really liked them. Sure another one bites the dust is good, but Under Pressure, The Hammer Falls, and Somedody to Love have stricken me once again with the love for music. I find them easy to listen too, but moreso intrigueing in a way most music these days just isn't.
I was also mildly surprised at the backround tones to Under Pressure being approx the same as Vanilla Ice. Still Queen used it to greater effect.
Too bad Freddy isn't around anymore. :'(

Múm
A group i've been told according to Limewire is Electronica.
If you want originality, they're your group, you will have NEVER heard ANTHING like them, that i can guarantee. The songs that i recommend the most are The Ballad of the Broken Birdie Records and Smell Memory, don't get weirded out by the girl's voice, nor the seemingly unnecessarily put together words. Rather, let the music fill you, they can easily change your mood, and do it again and again.
So get a little Iceland in your diet and eat up some Múm for breakfast ;)

TOOL
If you like heavy music, but you don't like the mindless, knuckle-dragging music that constitutes most modern rock, but want something deeper, then TOOL is the shit. Every TOOL album is a masterpiece, a journey through separate aspects of the human condition. Tool can be dark, but they can also use dark humor to round out the rough edges.
Tool is a perfect mix of musicians. The lyrics and voice of the lead singer Maynard are what can only be described as "Biblical" in nature. Profound, dark, yet satisfying and edifying. The Lyrics discuss highly spiritual and mind blowing subjects that can only be understood fully by listeners who research these subjects. The guitarist Adam Jones plays relatively easy, yet complicated and intricate riffs, utilizing numerology and rarely-used timing signatures in unison with the rest of the band. The Bassist Justin Chancellor can play very beautiful, flowing bass lines in slow sequence, but can also crunch out evil, wicked sounding lines that just blow your mind. The instrumental focal point of the band however is the drummer Danny Carey. He has probably the largest most complicated drum set out of any modern drummer. He also utilizes a vast array of unconventional timing signatures mixed in with his custom made, one-of-a-kind drums to produce incredible beats.
Together they make greatest band of all time in their genre in my opinion. The best album to represent the pinnacle of their glory is Lateralus.
Yay, Obama won. Let's thank his supporters:
-The compliant mainstream media for their pro-Obama propaganda.
-Black Panthers for their intimidation of voters.

Dead Kennedys
Three bands that are usually stated as the first hardcore Punk bands (and that's Hardcore aws in the genre, not an adjective) are Black Flag, Bad Brains, and Dead Kennedys. Of the three, Dead Kennedys is my personal favourite. Hardcore is commonly viewd as just bashing the instruments and shouting in the mic, but DK wasn't that. It's more fast and more brutal than older punk, but believe me it's executed with pure skill.
The songs deal with hard subjects, with a certain twisted light view. Like "Holiday In Cambodia", which deals with the genocidal regime of Pol Pot. Jello Biafra's manical voice and lyrical vision combined with the melodies of the brilliant players like Klaus Fluoride make the songs full packages.
Pol... POT!
Slayer
One of the vast amount of bands credited with the creation of death metal and satanic metal. The lineup is Tom Araya on bass and vocals, Jeff Hannerman on lead guitar, Kerry King on rhythm guitar, and Dave Lombardo on drums. The band IMO is one of the greatest metal bands because they released one of the greatest metal albums ever (Reign in Blood) and pushed metal farther, heavier, and darker than ever before.
Combined with Araya's shrieks and growls, Lombardo's flawless fills and double foot peddling, King's killer rhythm riffs and Hannerman's wailing guitars, this band played such famous songs as, "Angel of Death", "Seasons in the Abyss", "Cult", and what is their thrash classic, "Raining Blood", which starts off with the pitiful cryings of the guitars and leads to a face melting riff and an apocolpyse sounding ending with the drums crashing insanely, Araya banging his head furiously from side to side, and King and Hannerman bending and whammy bar diving ferociously.
This band is one of my favorites mainly because they have a huge fanbase underground and are recognized as legends in the metal society but they really never hit mainstream. they also have the guts to write against Christianity, and they don't just blam it to look hardcore. I also love the ripping guitar solos which includes aggressive tremelo picking and hitting a lot of notes to make a blended sound, as well as some high pitched bends and harmonics and abusing the fuck out of the whammy bar. They are also still going and last year released "Christ Illusion" and won a Grammy for their work. "Cult", and "Eyes of the Insane" are epic masterpieces.

Manic Street Preachers
Often mistaken as part of the Brit Rock scene, the Manics are one of the best non-metal bands around. Their lyrics hold political meanings, and are at times two sided, with their being a nmber of interpretations.
Gaining inspiration from the likes of the Clash, the Manics brought back protest rock to the main stream.
Never afraid to voice their ideals the Manics combine catchy guitar riffs, a solid base line, and a good Drum beat to generate a wide variety of sounds ranging from punk ( ish), with songs such as Repeat (UK), to more melodic pieces with orchestral accompaniments , such as A Design for Life, and all the way up to disco, such as Miss Europa Disco Dancer, to put forward a wide variety of beliefs ranging from the pointlessness of the right to Freedom of Speech ( Freedom of Speech won't feed my children) to the problems in Britain an America ( Ifwhiteamericatoldthetruthforjustonedayit'swo rldwouldfallapart) and YES that is exactly how the song name is spelt.
In short, the Manics rock.
Infected Mushroom
If you love electronica, this band is for you. With ground-pounding Goa tracks like "Cities of the Future", "Noise Maker" and "I'm the Supervisor", this band is easily one of the most entertaining hits for simple listening pleasure or even for parties. If you're not into hardcore tracks though, then it's a good thing that this band is extremely diverse. With releases like "Jeenge" and "Avratz", this band can even win the hearts of avid breakbeat and ambient listeners.
This band is definately worth checking out, since their songs will soon dig holes into your heart and mind and are sure to stay forever.

Question. You said they were Electronica, would you mind downloading OR BUYING LEGITIMITELY a song or two by Múm (aforementioned by myself) since according to genre choosing from former owners (admittedly stolen) they are, but i haven't looked into the genre too much because i'd expect big things after how i simply feel in love with Múm's music BACK IN THE DAY.
So yeah ;)

The Beatles
This band did more then anyone would expect of the typical 2 guitarists, bassist and a drummer line up. They went from a simple Rock N Roll band playing the 12 Bar Blues to playing with a full orchestra and holding all top ten places in the American music charts. The influences they had were so diverse (Indian Music, Classical Music, Organ fair, Folk and the Blues,to name a few) that they showed people exactly what the possibility were with music, limitless. The influence was strong enough to convince classical musicans to keep the 12 tone system.
Although the band are appreciated less and less. They left a mark on music that the world hadn't seen since Bach invented the Just Intonation system which fixed a frequency for each note.
Yes, he IS an NG artist (amongst other), he have made music for a long time, + released a few albums, so I definitley think he qualifies here.
And the fact that he have a very unique style makes him sky-high in my opinon. His older material (unfortunatley not on NG anymore) had a style that flirted with trip-hop, acoustic, glitch and many other weird little elements from various genres/styles all put in one to create his very unique sound. You'll find alot of interesting ear-candy in his pieces, latley he've been flirting alot with 8-bit sound.

Der Eisenrost
Like Einsturzende Neubaten, but infinitely more archaic. Der Eisenrost combines the musical fury of Chu Ishikawa (composer of avant-garde films like Tetsuo: The Iron Man and Bullet Ballet) and actor Shinichi Kawahara on "metal percussion" (essentially a huge machine made of bike parts, pipes, chimes and other miscellanious metal objects), famous underground bassist Joe Yabuki (who's played in the States with Pugs at Lollapaplooza and SXSW), jazz drummer Kouhei Chiba and guitarist/vocalist Shinichi Seki.
Fluctuating between tense alleyway-chase style pieces (the intro to "Down By Law" sounds like something straight out of a suspenseful cop movie) and VERY loud hardcore punk-influenced noise, their music is unpredictable and challenging.
Some live footage of the band.
The Pogues
The Pogues have to be my favourite band ever. Shane MacGowan's gravel voiced singing beats anything else I've heard. The idea to play traditional Irish music with a punk attitude was a stroke of genius.
The first 3 albums are absolute classics, especially their debut album, Red Roses For Me. They've written many great songs, but one thing I like about them is how they breathe new live into traditional songs, or simply older songs. Their version of Eric Bogle's "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda" is so many times better than the original. MacGowan's voice is much more suited to the song.
How ever, not all of their stuff is great. Hell's Ditch is a poor album in my opinion, with MacGowan slurring his way through the tracks with none of the energy of the previous albums. He was kicked from the band after that, and the style of music sent in a completely different direction, and stopped being worth listening to.
Despite this, they remain my favourite band, and now that MacGowan is back with them, things can only get better.

I'm assuming, from your description, you've heard Foley Room, his new LP? Easily going to be one of the albums of the year, some mind blowing stuff on it. Possibly the best piece of electronic music of the decade.
The rest of his stuff isn't really like this though, which is basically field recordings, on his previous albums he also uses samples from vinyl records and other music, sort of in a similar style to DJ Shadow but a lot more fucked up.
Bricolage and Supermodified are his best albums from his previous stuff, and I'd say Foley Room is up there with them.

Alice Cooper
Album: Trash
amazon ( for preview listening if you care ) : http://www.amazon.com/Trash-Alice-Cooper/dp/B 0000026T4
FUCK
YEAH.
Aside from the "greatest hits" compilation, this is the best Alice Cooper album EVER!!
On this album you can find such great Hair Metal classics as:
Poison ( his best song ever, out of almost 30 years of music )
Spark in the Dark
House of Fire
Why Trust You
Hell is Living Without You
======
Alice Cooper started in the 60's and sucked major ass for like 15 years until he discovered the 80's. Then he became all raunchy and created some of the best hair metal ever.
The components of hair metal:
-Male Singer
-Keyboard ( optional, but heavily recommended )
-Heavy drums
-Back Vocals
-Repeating the name of the song like 20 times with the back vocals. AWESOME
Alice Cooper has that down perfectly in this album. Sadly it's one of his last before he turned all christian. He probably has a reality tv show by now or something lame, although my last memory of him is in Wayne's World, which is sweet.
Bump cuz dis thred iz awsum
Seriously.
CRANKY
Most notably known for the most famed of any Part 4u remix, Cranky is a female artist with a bigger fanbase than ParagonX9, and just as much talent. Her music is not as limited at that song though, oh no.
Sadly that's the only song you hear, but still, it's not the only song she's made
I regretfully can't find her website currently, but if you can DDR here's this. If anyone has it bookmarked, please post it.
As for a picture ... ummmm
Drama is my anti-drug.
Meat Puppets
Most of you probably have already heard at least a handful of Meat Puppets songs through the popular Nirvana covers (Lake of Fire, Plateu, and Oh, Me). One of the lost wonders from the mid to late eighties they had a string of fantasic albums that are best described as Rock and Roll meeting Country music on a peyote trip. Their music is deceptively well played (although the later albums lose the rough garage rock feel of their earlier albums) and the lyrics are clever and insightful. Twenty years later their music still feels like a startling original breath of fresh air.

Poisonblack
The current frontman and guitarist of this Finnish gothic metal band is Ville Laihiala, ex-vocalist of Sentenced. The previous vocalist was Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto (JP), who now does the vocals for Charon. Although this band has only released two studio albums so far--Escapexstacy and Lust Stained Despair--both of them are brilliant in every way. Every song they've released has been top-notch, laden with catchy choruses and nice riffs.
Even though I've already mentioned that all of their songs are excellent, here are some that stick out in case any of you are interested in checking out their music: Rush, Nothing Else Remains, The Exciter, Love Controlled Despair, The Living Dead, The State, Love Infernal, and Illusion/Delusion.
I've said enough. Just check them out. Please.
Page 2 = Concord Dawn ;)
The any group truly made me love DnB, it's this one. With songs like Be There 4 U, Fly Away Home, T.N.T, you'll get hooked so fast, and those aren't even the best. They use sounds from all over the board of hearing, from almost shriekingly loud pitches to basses low enough to bust your ears open. Truly they're worth listening too, and worth loving New Zealand for.

Kingston Wall
The word is the Kings, and the King is the word...
Progressive rock can, at worst, be the musical equilant for masturbation in all the ways Jazz tries to be. Kingston Wall, however, is far from it. Combining psychedelic improvisation, the hard strike of hard rock and oriental noodling with subjects of Finnish Mythology. They produced a total of three albums (I, II and Tri-Logy), which, together, form a complete consept. Recently a live album "The Real Live Thing" was put out, and immediately found it's place in the Finnish music lovers shelves.

Daft Punk
Though I'm sure almost everyone on the BBS has heard of Daft Punk, I think they deserve a piece of this thread.
Arguably the greatest electronic band (ever), the musical duo of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo started the band after their original band, Darlin', didn't do so well. They started without much attention with the release of their first single, The New Wave. They first became noticed by the public in 1995 with the release of their first album, Homework, and the subsequent singles, Da Funk and their first major hit, Around The World. The "Homework era" ended with the release of their first music video collection, D.A.F.T. - A Story about Dogs, Androids, Firemen and Tomatoes.
In 2001, Daft Punk released their second album, Discovery, with four major single releases: One More Time, Aerodynamic, Digital Love, and of course, the most well-recognized Daft Punk song out there, Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. To top it all off, Daft Punk released a full-length feature film with Discovery: Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem (which, I recently found out, is one of the only anime movies that the BBS will actually admit is awesome). The same year, Daft Punk also released Daft Club, a compilation of remixes from Discovery.
In March of 2005, Daft Punk released their third studio hit, Human After All. Critics argue that it sounds too basic, far too simplistic compared to their previous albums (but then again, who listens to critics, anyway?). Off Human After All, there were four singles: Human After All, The Primetime of Your Life, Robot Rock, and Technologic. Though Robot Rock did much better on airplay, Technologic is the most widely recognized single from the album, due to the infamous usage of part of the lyrics in the Busta' Rhymes single Touch It. In 2006, another compilation album was released: Musique Vol. 1 1993-2005. It contained all of Daft Punk's most well-known singles, and included other artists songs Daft Punk remixed.
Also in 2006, Daft Punk announced the release of their first full-length, non-music movie, Electroma. In March of 2007, Electroma was released for French Public to view. A video release hasn't been planned.
From 1995 to 2007 and on into the future, Daft Punk will continue to rock out loud, continue to create the unique sounds and music that made them famous.
