Cancer Cure White Blood Cell Aids?

For those you can't understand two words of the title, I read a Reader's Digest article on future medical advances. One of them involved a man with cancer. the doctors souped up his white blood cells, and the cancer was gon quickly. Score one.

AIDS, what I'm talking about, is not Acquired Immunodeficiency syndrome, but autoimmunodeficiency syndrome. Basically, it's when your own body's defense system turns against you.

You know when someone has an organ transplant, they need to take drugs to prevent their immune system from killing and destroying the implanted organ? For the fairly uneducated, AutoImmunodeficiency is basically that; except your own immune system attacks the very body it was generated from. It's like your own body is mixed up in a civil war. Or rather, a massecre where very well armed soldiers are killing everything in sight. Your own immune systems sees your entire body as a foreign particle (Please, no Mexican jokes).

Point? Well, if one had these superpowered immune cells in them, and the immune system went AIDS, what would happen? Would severe damage occur before it was diagnosed?

You've already answered your own question. I think it's pretty safe to say that if souped up white cells attacked your own body, that serious damage would occur quickly. You probably knew this, but found wanted to make a topic anyways. >:(

I don't think that's right. What really happens is that the virus basically hijacks white blood cells and turns them into factories which produce weapons of mass destruction. (Please, no Muslim jokes).
