Don't ruin the thread, maybe if some good shoppers come here it will end up being great.

1) Find shape you want.
2) Have your brush/eraser/selection tool selected
3) Edit - Define Brush

Stamps? Find another image on google and do that. Or the other way (which I don't use)
1) Find pattern you want
2) Have fill pattern bucket/pattern stamp selected
3) Edit - Define Pattern

For the record, it's ok for people to use other's pics in sigs, as long as it's obvious it's not your own. If that makes sense?

Spotlight lighting is also a cool effect. I made a background for a flash and improved it with lighting effects. I'll post it on my DA sometime.

Just dropping by to post something useful, there's a guy on deviantart who makes very nice brushes, all of the brushes I use that weren't made by myself belong to him :P

Alright guys, want some advice from an expert Photoshopper?

ABSTRACT BRUSHES DO NOT AN ARTWORK MAKE.

You people seem so obsessed with this stylized abstractuality that it's become cliché to the max. Sigs, especially, I see it overused on. In fact, the only person who I've seen pull of a good abstraction is MadCow and Tkinney from the NGSM—back in the Summer / Fall of last year when they were popular.

Serously, guys. If you know how to use Blending options, the polygonal lasso, Hue/Saturation, and occasionally the pen tool, you've got it made in the shade. Familiarize yourself with these tools in order to create master works.

Painting in Photoshop, on the other hand, is something I've only recently gotten involved with. Use the HEALING BRUSH—a very simple tool that, used in combination with the stamp, can blend near-perfect flesh tones to fix skin blemishes, or to soften lines— in order to blend values. Also, you'll find that using the SMUDGE tool in moderation, at varying pressures, can create a very organic feel about your painting.

A recent example of a photoshop Painting that I've done can be viewed below:

what the hell you mean you can open them in photoshop thats where 90 persent of sig makers go to get their renders you ust be doing something wrong, and they arent small they are usually huge and have to be sized way down just to use them and i sent you to good-tutorials for tips and tricks to get better at sig making they can help you out alot

Yes, he did.

And Bolo, I understand what you mean. This is partly why I haven't been making as many sigs anymore. At some point there's no challenge anymore. You just throw around some brushes, and presto. Crudely speaking. I only make sigs on special request and for contests, and when I do, I try to make them stand out and keep brushing to a minimum. But, each to his own. I feel that the end result matters most. If you can create diverse, original and various masterpieces with brushes, go ahead.

what started out as a Photoshop help center ( which imo was quite a good idea) ended up as another useless and repetitive "rate my shit" thread where people post pics i`ve seen billion times on this forum....

sorry marsupial, you meant well.... <3
