To those on NG that have seen the movie sunshine, what did you make of the subliminal style flashes midway through?
I thought they were made illegal in the 70s or 80s?

I think that was actually to creep people out. They do it on the opening of the hills have eyes showing you photos of mutated humans.

They do them in almost every movie these days, usually horror films. A quick flash to scare you, usually the picture is of a dead body or something (think of a screamer on teh intrawebness).
Can't see if they are illegal if they are used in every second movie...
Mediocre movies at that... =(

Saw that film today, frickin' awesome.
The flashes were on screen for too prolonged an amount of time to even have a mild effect on the subconcious, plus, they didn't contain any messages to influence people, just pictures of dead people- therefor, legal, and non-subliminal.
