Now, we have all been exposed to the prescription medication commercials all over t.v. My problem with this is that you can't go out and buy their product without a script first, which is the doctors decision. They waste millions, if not more, on useless commercials. If they didn't spend so much money on useless advertising, maybe those greedy motherfuckers could....*gasp*...lower prescription prices by even a few dollars. Although it may be impossible to ban the commercials, I feel they are an entire waste of money. I'm also tired of seeing those fucking erectile dysfunction and cholesterol ads.

So long as we treat medicine as just another commodity, I don't see any significant changes coming about. Our mentality, as a collective, has to evolve. Capitalists aren't intrinsically generous folk.

advertising is a, expense, and therefore, a tax writeoff.
I'm not crazy, everyone else is.

You'd be better off arguing to stop subsidies to multi-bilion dollar drug corporations, than to say we should ban commercials only by drug companies. Don't you want to live in a free society?

We dont get ads for prescription medication in the UK ; with us its usually "the strongest painkiller available without prescription" and so on.
But I guess the reason is that patients will be more likely to ask / pressure their doctor to prescribe the advertised drug. Theres got to be people pushy enough to do it out there?
