April Fools

Sorry about the April Fools joke being so lame.

What's really sad is that I redesigned the header to look like a generic web 2.0 header, but people actually liked it more than the regular header, so now we need to debate black buttons amongst ourselves. I guess there's a reason why the web 2.0 trends exist.

Some artists such as Wonchop and TLGmedia contributed fun April Fools submissions, so thanks for that. I'm thinking for next year, we need to have an April Fools contest where everyone submits spoofs of their own works... You heard it here first, so keep that in mind as 2008 rolls along! This way, we can supplement whatever bad joke we come up with by posting lots of great spoof movies and games by artists on the site. It will be a noteworthy part of our 2008 history!

Speaking of history, I finally (tentatively) finished up the 2006 History of the Flash Portal. This brings us up to EIGHT YEARS of history for the Flash Portal, to compliment 12 years of history for Newgrounds as a website. Crazy, right? 200 years from now, historians are gonna refer back to these pages and be like, "look at this crap."

I like the black bar, but it would be better if it lighted up white or something when you scroll over it, like the current orange bar.

Haha, it's fine Tom. It's better than most websites. Maybe you should have a special team to come up with ideas, seeing how NG cares for it so much. :P

i still want my BBS back! (from 2003 and prior)

but i liked the black buttons. personally i felt the site was much sweeter with the old school gaming icon looking links and black. this is a sleek design. but that high glossy feeling black you had looked pretty cool. i especially enjoyed the tank having the reflection under it.

While the black buttons looked nice, I think the orange buttons are better because I think they fit nicely with the header.

Yeah, the April Fools was not the best you've done. However, I did like the nav bar. At first I didn't like how it took away from the distinctive orange of Newgrounds, but I could see myself getting used to it. I also liked the mirror effect of the logo... might want to consider upgrading back to that. Overall, this was a pretty good attempt at beta testing a new design.

Even though I very well knew it was 1:april, and was even cleaning out crappy threads about it, when i refreshed the page and only half of the nav. bar turned to the black layout, and the header had changed (must have refreshed while uploading...) i stil kindof sat and waited for more, constantly checking out the AP ^^ i mean it could very well be part of the joke, to actually upload parts of it... ah well, i guess i havent visited enough beta 2.0 sites to recognize the joke in a millisec... :)
